Fredricksburg, Texas

Hello Everybody,
I just wanted to pop in and tell you about our fun stop this weekend.

Bill and I were on a weekend getaway with two other couples.
We made a quick stop in downtown Fredericksburg, Texas.  The area has cute shops along Main Street. My favorite store to visit over the years was called, Homestead owned by Carol Hicks Bolton. I loved that store.
She sold that one but opened a new one about three years ago.

I had to see if they were still open even though we got to town very late in the day. They were for about 50 more minutes. We did a quick Google search and got directions but the GPS program sent us the wrong way. I was nearly running and I never run unless I'm being chased by something or I have an escaping toddler at the school.
We made it with 35 minutes to spare. Whew!

It was like walking into an antique wonderland crossed with a science lab.

This store is 14,000 square feet. It is amazing.
I was completely transported and inspired.

I've read about the Bolton's for at least 20 years. They are like Fredericksburg (and Texas) design royalty.
They've been featured in magazines many times over the course of several decades.

If you would like to see more head over to Fiona and Twig.
There are several posts about Antiquities.

The Hill Country of Texas is a great destination. There are oodles of little historic towns tucked in the unique, hilly landscape. We've been several times over the years. Each time we see something new.

The weather was gorgeous.
The fellowship was wonderful.
We had a great weekend.

  2. I love that little town. Had to leave early last time I was there so I need to plan on staying the night next time.
