Hello, November!

Hello, November.
  I've been waiting for you.

The leaves are finally starting to change a little bit.
I hope they are going to be pretty.
I went out to clip some but they were very splotchy so I'm sticking to Nandina for the time being.

I've been excited to decorate for Thanksgiving.
I prefer muted browns over bright orange.
Too much orange gets on my nerves.
I found this cornucopia in my junking journeys this past summer.

I just fell in love with the white ceramic basket.

It's vintage Japanese Napco.
It's a little bit kitchy and I love it.
When I found this handmade velvet fruit at the craft mall I nearly swooned.
Not really, but look at it!

It is gorgeous and so well made.
It's crafting the way it used to be.
The creator of these lovelies lives at least an hour away.
I feel so thankful that she has her stuff in our craft mall.
I buy from her frequently.

The little tussie mussie came from the same shop.
I painted the turkey and the cornucopia three years ago.

I've been looking for a Japanese turkey platter for about three years.
Most of the time they are priced at $35.00
This one was on sale for $5.00!
The graphics on it are delicious.

It's time for the annual turkey trot.

I find decorating for Thanksgiving helps me enjoy one season/holiday at a time.
Fighting the urge to decorate early for Christmas is stemmed with a few turkey accessories
I'm not judging if you are already bedecking your halls.
The house may not be in Christmas mode but the Christmas songs are already on in the car!

Monday was a great day to tweak, clean and sprinkle these guys around the house.

Now that we have had the dreaded time change, it will be harder to get good pictures after school.
I'm working almost the whole month of November so no more leisurely mornings in my jammies taking photos.

I have more to show.
I hope I can get some good photos on Saturday.
Have a blessed night.

  1. I can see why you'd swoon over the velvet fruit! I've seen the pumpkins everywhere, but these are so different, and I'm attracted to anything velvet. The turkey platter was a steal - it's gorgeous!

  3. Lucky find on the turkey platter! It's been dark and gray here, too, and I don't leave work until after dark, so picture taking in natural light is very limited for me. Good thing for SLR cameras! Love the velvet fruit!

  4. Mr. Tom platter is wonderful you got such a good deal, and the velvet fruit is gorgeous!!!
I LOVE Thanksgiving, so I don't do Christmas until the 1st of December. Don't get me wrong...I love Christmas too, but fall/Thanksgiving is just the perfect holiday time....just remembering all that I have to be thankful for keeps me busy the other 11 months of the year :^) THEN I can do Christmas and pay tribute to the One who makes it all possible.
    Blessings to you,
    J

  5. Katie, that cornucopia is very unique and I love it too! And I would definitely swoon over that velvet fruit. You have a fun assortment of turkeys. I found a couple of little vintage candle ones a while ago. Love your platter! I saw a gorgeous one at a thrift in New England, but didn't think I could get it home. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann
