Sugared Strawberries

Sliced strawberries, water and a teaspoon of sugar.
That is all it takes to make a sweet, juicy, strawberry topping.

Cut strawberries with sugar.

In this day of clean eating, Paleo, juicing, and and low carb, sugared or macerated strawberries may be going the way of the dinosaur or Myspace.

There is something so "summery" about a bowl of juicy, sugared strawberries.
It evokes memories of a delightful, summer dessert.
Strawberry topping drizzled on top of pound cake and finished off with a squirt of whipped cream.
Yummy.

One of my favorite little shops went out of business a few months ago.

I bought these darling "sugared" strawberries on clearance from one of my favorite sellers.

I pulled them out as a springboard for my summer decor in the kitchen.
Aren't these just the sweetest?

Strawberries have long been a popular decorating motif for a kitchen.

Strawberry Closeup.

Years ago I was on a strawberry kick and picked up treasures here and there at antiques stores and junk shops.
I have purged some of that collection but I've saved my favorite pieces.
The quilted berry came from the same seller.
The gray tray is from Magnolia Market. It was a birthday gift.
It's so cute.

Strawberry Collectables.

The niches in the kitchen have received a sprinkling of red transferware to go with a few strawberry accents.

You can read all about how I created this decorating space from a bank of closed cabinets in this post.

Theses shelves get an overhaul usually about the time they need a good dusting.

It's not a big deal start with a clean slate and do some redecorating.

Vintage tins coordinate with the red and white theme.

The strawberry botanical had a terrible peach border.
It wasn't a big deal to just cut it off.

That one simple step makes a big difference in this little print.

One of my favorite cereals these days is Special K Red Berries by Kellogg's.

Strawberries and summer.
What could be better?
Have a wonderful day, friends.

  4. I like your thinking! Strawberries have long been a favorite of mine too. Our first house had wallpaper in the kitchen with pretty little strawberries. I like your sugared ones...why don't you figure out how to make those and teach us. :)
