Another Slipcovered Chair for the Gameroom

If you have been with me a while or had a chance to look back through my archives, you might note that I love neutral furniture.

Living with a country blue couch long past its prime should have taught me to never, never, ever again get patterned upholstery.
Yet, I keep making the same mistake.
I've slip covered or recovered all of our furniture that didn't come in a neutral fabric.
Most of it has been done with drop cloths.
I love them for the nubby texture and oatmeal color.

They are soft, washable, and durable.
Our gameroom is an open concept living area at the top of our stairs.
It is technically supposed to be the "mancave" but in reality it is our t.v. room.
I do a lot of blogging from the leather chair in that room.

I showed you the slipcover for that piece about month ago.

The other chair in the room was one we had reupholstered about three years ago.

It was done in a rust fabric with leather accents.
I love the chair but felt it didn't balance with the newly slipcovered chair.

Now the two chairs compliment and balance each other.
I love the white furniture in here.

My new mantra going forward will be one leather piece of furniture per room.
More than that it feels too heavy.

We are making exciting progress on this room.
Come back for more changes.

  1. Great job!

Where did you get your drop cloths? They looks softer than ones I've got in my husband's old painting supplies. They are not very soft. I need to look in Home Depot to see what they have.

Thanks for sharing the many projects that you do, they are inspiring.

  5. I love slipcovered neutral furniture too. Did you make those chair covers yourself? They look great! I like your rule of no more than one leather piece per room too.

  7. Katie,
What a good idea to slipcover the two chairs in the same fabric. I've never had the confidence to make slipcovers or re-upholster furniture myself.

  8. I am a big sewer and yet have not tackle slip covers? The chairs look good in the oatmeal cover and drop cloths are so sturdy...One day I'll take the plunge and do some slipcovers!

  9. I like what you did too! Looks great!
I have gone to neutrals too over the years. I too have had print sofas (never again) and neutrals are better than pattern....neutral paint has taken over too in this house as well....
