The Junky Box

Barn Find, Green Box

I planned to spend most of my cash at the little antique stand at the produce store.

Green's Produce

I fell in love with this perfectly, imperfect green box.

The vendor at this little shop travels up to the midwest and he digs through barns up there.

How fun would that be?

In fact a friend of mine from college invited me up to dig through her husband's barn.

I think she'd love it if I divested her husband of some of his treasures.

Yes, please!

Bill would not be amused, however.
Have you ever been treasure hunting in a barn?

  1. Barns are one of the best places, just be careful of spiders, snakes, and the occasional opposum. LOVE the color of that fun box/drawer!

  2. Yes...my own :^)
That is a great box...you will be able to use it again and again!!!
FYI to Debra, I have a chicken snake in my barn, and he keeps it totally free of bugs, mouses and anything else that moves. I make a lot of noise before I open the door and he gets up on top of the light fixture and watches to see what I am doing... He's pretty smart since he knows if he comes down he's liable to get lost in all the junk.......after I thump him on the head with a stick that I keep handy at the door!

  3. You've found a wonderful treasure and it looks so nice in your pretty display. I've been to 'barn sales' but never had the opportunity to dig through a barn for treasures! x K

  4. Hi Katie,
Being up here in the midwest I have done the barn searches. It is fun. You would be amazed at the treasures hidden in barn attics. Love your sweet green box.

  5. I was looking for a vintage portrait last weekend and the owner of an antique shop in Vermont told me that he had a bunch of them in a bathtub... And he was right, the bathroom and the bathtub were filled with paintings! I dug through stuff in a lot of barns before, but never in a bathroom!

  7. Oh Katie, I too love the junk box! Right up my alley friend. I have a similar one, but I painted it white and gave it a grain sack and number. Mine did not have the fabulous chippy paint yours has. It was just old wood. I got to pick a barn once and it was the adventure of a life time. I hope you go. It is so much fun!! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
