The Chickadees At Summer's End

I was hand watering the yard and something interesting happened with my little black capped chickadees.

Texas Bird, Black Capped Chickadee

As the water was splattering on the branches the sweet little birds came and fluffed and flounced in the water.

I couldn't tell if they were bathing or looking for a tiny snack.

Summer in North Texas, Handwatering

Either way, I had the best time trying to capture their antics as I cooled off in the process.

Even though fall is around the corner, it is still green and lush in our back yard.

The crepe myrtles are going crazy.

Orange Trumpet Vine

The trumpet vine is still blooming.

The oxalis came back as soon as the 100 degree days passed us by.

Water Droplets, branch

I love the little rebirth of the garden at this time of year.

  3. It is still very hot here too. I bet that was fun to play with the bird like that. They're probably all looking for water this time of year.

What fun to watch the birds catch the "sprinkles" from the hose!
