12 Crafts of Christmas/#9 Gingerbread ornaments

This is an old post but it is such a sweet story that I thought I'd share it again.
Painted ornaments is craft #9. You can get these little wooden ornaments at Michael's or Hobby Lobby. Each wooden cut out is about 25 cents.
They come is a wide variety of motifs and can be painted as desired.

This post is from December 2012

My daughter was at our favorite thrift store checking out the book section.
She has her own place so she went in to look at the Christmas stuff.

She stopped by the house on her way home to bring me something she had rescued.

I have made ornaments for almost 30 years. Some were for our tree but the others were gifts.

They are fun because they chronicle the different moods I've been in each Christmas.
I was very into gingerbread men at one point.

She saw this little guy and thought that someone had discarded one of my creations.
When money was really tight, I'd give ornaments to friends or give them as teacher gifts. It seems highly likely that at some point they would have been discarded or donated.

It was so sweet of her to rescue it for me but

it wasn't one of mine. Oh, it looks like one of mine and the initials on the back are the same as mine.

Wow!

I did not make this ornament.

I'm glad she rescued him.
He is a cutie and he has such a great story.

He is a favorite on our gingerbread tree.

Thanks for stopping by to check out some painted ornaments.
Have a wonderful day.
