Life Giving You Lemons In 6 Easy Steps

When life gives you lemons, make something darling.

I was looking for a flower pot for my topiary from HedgeScapes

I found one in the green house.
It had the fun summer vibe I was looking for.

I don't know if you follow the Liz Marie Blog .
She went a little lemony in her dining room.
That post highly influenced my choice when I went to go fetch a flower pot.

The flower pot looked a little lonely, so I started to pull some other lemon elements into our summer decor.

Here is how I did it in six easy and frugal steps.

Step 1
I went to the internet to garner some vintage botanicals of lemons.

They were printed and then slipped into a few our existing picture frames.

Step 2
Yellow items were conscripted for the cause.

Yellow candles were waiting in the candle drawer.

A pillow from Magnolia Market was plopped into the French Chair.

Step 3
A trip to Hobby Lobby yielded $13.00 worth of lemons.

I adore them in this white milk glass compote.

Read about our toy wheel barrow in this post.

Step 4
I got creative with other cheap or free lemony visuals.

Rebekah got me the colored chalk for Christmas so I made the lemonade sign.

I don't know who Evelyn is but I had her recipe for Lemon Bars in my recipe box.
I re-copied it onto a coordinating recipe card.

The jar of lemon curd came from the grocery store.

What is lemon curd anyway?

A label for lemon filling was just waiting in the pantry.

I really want some pie!

Step 5
A French Citron pillow was stitched up.
Citron is the correct word for lemon in French just F.Y.I.

Some other French related words were incorporated into my pillow design.
This was created using stencils.

The letters and numbers were in my craft closet.
The lemon template was found on Pinterest.
I saved it to my phone and traced it onto copy paper.
I cut it out and stenciled the lemon onto the drop cloth fabric being used for the pillow.

This method could be used to create a dish towel, if you don't know how to sew.

Step 6
Lemon collectables were sprinkled into the mix.
We only had three little ceramic lemons so I wandered around an antique store to look for anything else to go with the theme.

I found a precious glass lemon and a vintage juice carafe.

Adorable.
This was so much fun.
I love incorporating new themes into our seasonal decor.
I preferred faux lemons for this project but you could always go with fresh.
When life gives you lemons, have fun creating!
Have a great day.
If you like it, Pin it. Every Pin helps.

  1. I enjoyed your lemon world, but I pinned that cubbie in your kitchen. Did you make that? I missed it if you did. It's perfect.

  3. Cheerful ideas! I once read that a famous interior designer stated that one should always add just a touch of yellow to a room. Using a lemon is the perfect way to do it! By the way, as I am typing this, I have a mug of hot water with a slice of lemon sitting next to me. Yum!

  4. Katie,
Lemon pie... did you say, lemon pie? Caught my attention. :) My mother used to make the best lemon pie using condensed milk. Your version of life giving you lemons is way more fun than the usual way.
