Our Christmas Guest Bedrooms

The bedrooms get a refresh each Christmas.
Summer linens are put away and something warmer adorns the mattresses.
This year, two of our bedrooms got upsized with new mattresses.

The full sized bed with the headboard that was made out of crib rails was moved to our youngest son's room. The ladder from Clint Harp Designs stands in the corner.

I was a little shocked that this bed fit in this room so well. My children always had twin sized beds so that they had plenty of room to play. It was hard to envision what a bigger bed would look like. My apologies to my now grown children -  I never let them upsize when they lived here.

I made the blackwatch plaid pillow. The needlepoint pillow was a thrift store find.
The rest of the linens came from T.J. Maxx, Tuesday Morning, and Walmart.

The cat was a Halloween rescue from the feed store.

Our daughter's room got a new queen size mattress and headboard.

Nothing else in this room changed. I just scooted the night stands over a little.

Both beds feature black ground needlepoint pillows, plaid, and black and white bedding.
This look was inspired by a Victoria Magazine article from the 90s.

One of my white pillow covers is old.
I picked it up in a lovely shop when we lived in Lubbock during the early 90s.
The accent pillow and shams are Wamsutta® Vintage Washed Linen Collection. I found these at Bed, Bath and Beyond. They are so soft and beautiful.
I found the plaid coverlet on clearance at Macy's about 6 years ago. It's from Martha Stewart.

My grandmother had a wrought iron bed at her lakehouse in Wisconsin so I've always wanted one for a guest room.
This Darcey Cast Iron Metal Headboard came from Pier 1. It's a perfect match with the other metals in the room.
I bought it nine days before Thanksgiving. If I had gone in the day before they would have guaranteed delivery by Thanksgiving Day. It got here anyway but it's a good tip for the future.
The manager at the Park's Mall location was very helpful and put a rush on it for me.

I will do a review of the mattress and the sheets as soon as this bed is slept in by a two legged human instead of a four legged creature.
The sheet review will be done in collaboration with Budget Blinds Fort Worth.
So far I can say that these sheets are incredably soft.
Look for my review after Christmas.

That's it for now.
Please note that I'm launching a new link party on January 2nd.
Since the culmination of Monday Social, I've felt a little out of the loop with other bloggers.
So this "Keep In Touch" link party should help us stay connected.
I'd love for you to link up any post except sale's posts.
It will go live every Tuesday at 4:00.
Feel free to grab the button if you'd like to help promote it for me.

Did you know there is a search link on my side bar?
Search for any post with the label Christmas to see more. You can also search through my December archives.
Thanks for being such supportive readers.
Have a wonderful day!
Katie

  5. Indeed, even a half washroom could be included for additional comfort. This is a particularly smart thought if your family has visit houseguests.clinton missouri hotels

  6. There are various approaches to make your guest feel comfortable notwithstanding when they're most certainly not. Huge numbers of the hotels and motels have been doing this kind of thing for quite a long time, and you can take a few signals from them.hotels in hays ks
