We have turned our old coffee table into planters.

The coffee table was designed to look like it had been constructed out of crates. He could never find vintage crates so he built them specifically for the coffee table.
The crates sat on a base with wheels. A top was created to look like an old door.
We loved it. Bill ultimately decided that it was really too high. He could not comfortably prop his feet on it. We stuck an ottoman in between it and the loveseat.
It was far from ideal.
He was over it and so was I.
He took it apart last spring and we brainstormed about what we could do with the crates.
He constructed them out of cedar so they are suitable for the outdoors.

I drilled holes into the bottom.
River rock went in next.
Dirt and annuals went in last.
It had a little weathering so I went over with some varnish.

The variegated Vinca was transplanted from one of my existing flower pots.
I hope that it will trail over the side once the growing season really begins.

I love it with our front door.
The grass has really come along in the last year.
The other two planters are on the back deck. We are using them for our tomato plants.
Those planters have wheels so we can move them to the shade during the hot summer.
The wheels were $11.99 which put them above our ten dollar limit but they are still an awesome project.
