Cozy Winter Home Tour

Hi friends,
Welcome to the Cozy Winter Home Tour hosted by our sweet Amber of Follow The Yellow Brick Home.
She is an amazing hostess and has the cutest vintage home.
If you are coming from Welch House, welcome. I love the warm pastels that she uses in her stunning Victorian home.

I may be in the minority but I love winter!
It gives us in Texas a break from the heat.
We can have 70 degree days but we also can dip into freezing temperatures.
Last Friday we had temps in the 70s, tornados in the evening and snow the next morning.
By Sunday afternoon, I was puttering in my greenhouse where I have Kolanchos about to bloom.

I take the opportunity in winter to add twinkle, cozy textures and pops of color to our grays, blues, black and white.  Sweater pillows are perfect for adding warm texture to our sofas and chairs.

I've added faux paperwhites, snowdrops, white tulips and crocus.
I've already been seeing paperwhites in the neighborhood landscape.
Some of the other early bloomers won't be far behind.

This is one of my favorite winter mantels. I love the galvanized metal pots with all the white.

Orange is my pop of color this winter. It looks so good with our copper accents in the kitchen.
A simmering mix in a thrifted pot provides a warm and cozy scent on these winter days.

A mix of orange peel, cloves and cinnamon sticks smells amazing.

The oranges in a vintage Pyrex bowl are faux. I made some real clove studded oranges in December but they were mushy and gross in three days. I don't know if it's just too hot or humid in Texas.
My solution was to make a clove studded faux orange. They all came from Hobby Lobby.

More faux oranges rest in a cake stand up above the cabinets.

We had some warm days so I packed our Friendly Village dishes away for the year.
I pulled out a few Currier and Ives plates but Denmark by Franciscan is being used daily.

This pattern gives a perfect Scandinavian winter vibe.
I love the serene blue with the black and white.

The reds of Christmas needed to be packed away. That included the curtains in the pie safe. Red and white ticking was swapped for blue and white. I love that it looks almost gray behind the wire mesh screen.

That is about it for now.
