Magnolia Market Inspired Master Bedroom

 

 Our room got a mini makeover with all new bedding in January

I wanted something that would easily fit in the washer and dryer.

 Bill wanted something without ruffles. 

I don't think he realized that the new set had scallops. 

Scallops are a little like ruffles - just saying.

I love the scallops because they always look perfect unlike ruffles that need fussing with.

The bedding all came from Tuesday Morning. 

The coverlet and pillow sham set is Linea Casa by Sferra. 

It is gorgeous. 

The blanket is Peacock Alley. 

It is so soft and comfortable.  

 

The yellow pillow from Magnolia Market inspired the new color scheme. 

Bill's grandmother made the afghan.

Does it match perfectly or what? 

 The art piece above the headboard also came from Tuesday Morning. 

All it needed was a coat of chalk paint to cover up the black.

Assembling stuff for a new color scheme is one of my favorite aspects of decorating.

I already knew that I didn't have much yellow. What I didn't find at Magnolia Market, I picked up here around town. 

The platter came from our local antique mall.

I saw similar plates in Waco but I didn't buy any because they all had a chip or two.

I refuse to buy something already chipped.

  I found the same pattern at home with no chips.

The pattern is Yellow Rock Roses by Blue Ridge Southern Pottery.
I love how the flowers match the silk ones we got in Waco.

Perfect.

I found a candle holder and some other silk flowers at Hobby Lobby.

You can see that the room still has a lot of white. 

Even before white became a "thing" I've always tried to have neutral bedding so that the bed can be layered in seasonal colors. 

The vanity tray was a birthday gift from my sister in law. 
The bakelite jar came from Bill's Granny Vi.

The Balenciaga perfume came from an estate sale. 

I'd hoped the bottle was Lalique but I don't think it is. 

The bird print came from my big Audubon book. 

I love being able to cut a page out of the book to create a new art piece. 

We've managed quite well without the ceiling fan. 

It seemed touch and go last summer until we figured out that our system was low on coolant. 

We each have a fan on our side of the bed to control our temperature. 

My fan runs non stop all summer. 

 The chandelier was a curbside find.

I already had the little yellow gingham pillow. 

The little table came from an antique store years ago. 

The little metal piece next the armoire came from the trip to Hobby Lobby. 

Bill likes the crisper cleaner feel of this new look. 
I adore the pops of yellow.

Magnolia Market Haul

How is everybody?

I thought I'd show you what we got at Magnolia Market at the Silos. 

  I spotted this pillow and knew that it would be the perfect springboard for a summer bedroom look.

Yellow is not one of the colors in my stash of decor items but I've wanted to try it for a while. 

I loved this hobnail vase. 

Typically this is a vintage style is seen in milk glass but this is a perfect little yellow accent. 

 The little yellow Ranunculus is a perfect match.

Wreathes are signature Joanna Gaines so this one came home with us.

These two tin pieces are cute. 

A cake stand is another Magnolia staple. 

The vintage cursive poster was a must have for a teacher and it was only $4.00 or so.

It will end up in my classroom. 

The world poster is for Bill's office. 

We also popped into Harp Design Co. 

It is the storefront owned by the furniture designer from the show. 

 We tried to pick up iconic Clint Harp designs. 

We wanted something that you couldn't really get anywhere else.

Is the initial made from shiplap?

For some reason I doubt it but everything Clint Harp makes is from reclaimed lumber. 

I'm thrilled to finally have a ladder for throws.

A Trip To Magnolia Market

After an extended session of Fixer Upper binge watching, Bill expressed an interest in going to Magnolia Market in Waco.

It's a date!

He was off on Monday so we made the trip down I-35.

Waco is only an hour and a half away from our house. 

We've been to Waco many times over the years.

 The silos have stood for a century giving a nod to the agricultural past of this Central Texas town. 

Chip and Joanna Gaines have turned the mill of an abandoned cotton seed company into their new retail space.

We couldn't wait to go shopping. 

The shopping is not in the silos for your FYI. 

There is a guest book to record visitors from all over the place.

This is a perfect title for a book. 

Darling is what I call my babies at work.

We got some cute, cute stuff which I'll reveal in another post.

I didn't take photos inside the store but there were many photo opportunities outside.

There were beautiful flowers.

This planter made out of something from the original grain elevator is super cute.

Bill and I have wanted to do a galvanized planter.

Note to self - the tree makes it proportional.

They are about to open a garden shop on the property.

I love the fairy gardens.

We ate at Schmaltz's for lunch. 

Yummy. 

After lunch we went to Harp Design Co.

Clint Harp and his wife have a little store front.  

We found out that Clint Harp has filmed his own pilot for the DIY Network.

It should air around June. 

We found a few things to bring home. 

The craftsmanship on this house from Season 1 is impeccable.

My favorite shop in Waco was closed.

They are only open one weekend a month and I can't ever remember which weekend.  

This is the perfect junk shop and has been featured numerous times on the show.  

We went for a drive down Austin Avenue to look at the cute houses. 

I've never noticed this adorable bridge. 

A Spanish revival has been purchased by the Gaines' but is up for sale through Magnolia Realty.

In complete Fixer Upper stalker mode, we got coffee from Common Grounds.  

We were the oldest people in the place.

It is a true college hangout.

The inside is so cool.

We could see this storm rolling into Ft. Worth on the way home.

Waco has been famous a couple of times. 

You may remember the Branch Davidian standoff of the 1990s.

Waco is famous again because of the show.

Bill and I met a couple outside of the Harp Design Co. 

They had driven down from Missouri and had planned to stay a week.

I'm not sure that there is a weeks worth of stuff to do in Waco at the moment. 

 This town is ripe for an influx of economic development so I hope there will be more to do in the future. 

Everything was smaller than it appears on T.V. 

We didn't have to wait in line but this place was hopping for a Monday morning.  

 The shop was darling. You won't find anything old or repurposed. 

It's all new merchandise but it is iconic Joanna Gaines.  

It was a great day!
