Fall Master Bedroom/ New Floors

Good Morning!
The month of October is slipping away at a rapid pace so I wanted to share some photos of our room with the new floors and how it is decorated for fall.

Bill and I went back and forth concerning the floors in the master bedroom.
Initially, I wanted carpet. I like stepping out of bed onto carpet. Bill wanted wood.
In the end, I couldn't find anything that I was excited about, so we went with wood.
It's much easier to replace rugs than carpet when the time comes.

I decided to embrace all the brown tones of the floor and the bed.
I pulled out my favorite needlepoint pillows and our brown matelasse coverlet.
(I almost dorked out this summer and gave it away! I didn't. Thank goodness.)
It looks rich and earthy and still has that Katie Mansfield element.
The yellow and brown throw came from my mother in law.

I sprinkled a few picks and pumpkins around the room.

The chaise got a few brown pillows as well.

I made the shabby slip cover for this chaise over 20 years ago.
It was near the start of Rachel Ashwell's popularity.
It's been a constant in our room since then.

Here is the old carpet. I hated the color. It was mushroom.

The rug is a tad too small but it was readily available at IKEA.
I'd need something custom to fit this odd sized room but for now this works.

Thanks for stopping by,
I've pulled way back on some of the blogging things that I was doing.
For now, I'll blog when I feel like it.
I know these pictures aren't the best but I thought you'd like to see our room.
Come back tomorrow for Keep In Touch.
I appreciate all of you.

A Few Changes In The Master Bedroom

I cleaned and photographed our bedroom after we moved the armoire.
I am loving it back in our room.

Below is how our bed looked all summer but I've since removed the navy and white from this space.

I was very inspired by the European looking beds in England.
The hotel beds all had fluffy, crisp white duvets.
The only issue with that is that Europeans don't do top sheets. The duvet acts as the top sheet.
We brought our own top sheets to France and again this summer when we went to the U.K.
Do they wash those duvets in between each guest? I certainly hope so.
I blame a 20/20 episode that aired years ago for my hotel germ issues.
Cleaning out the coffee pot with the rag from the toilet. Really?
I was shook!
Anyway,
I removed the navy comforter and replaced it with a white one.
Dealing with a duvet cover is too much trouble.

I found a couple of new pillows at the Raz warehouse sale this past summer.
This lighter blue reminds me of blue jeans and chambray shirts.

Which leads to hayrides and pumpkin patches for fall in my mind.
(Just FYI- seasons are not capitalized.)

I switched out the art in the frames on Bill's side of the bed.

I bought a butterfly book at Half Price Books with the express purpose of using the pages as art.

Butterflies with flecks of gold, orange, and black on a chambray blue ground were chosen because of the pillows.
I clipped another one near my vanity.

A pumpkin in gold gives a subtle nod to the season of hayrides and pumpkin patches.

I like it!
Thanks for stopping by.
Have a blessed day.
Look for beauty, keep your eyes on the one who controls it all and pray.

The Master Bedroom Dressed For Winter

When the kids were little, we took them to a place called Arbuckle Wilderness.
It is one of those wildlife parks. You know the kind that I mean.
You drive through the park to feel like you are on a safari. That is the theory, anyway.
We bought feed corn to give to the animals. It was fun and games until I was sneezed on by a ram.
The poor ram got his head stuck in the car. Chunks of slobber and feed corn were all over me.
My family howled with laughter. I have never forgiven them.

That has absolutely nothing to do with this post. It's just a good story.

I didn't have time to share photos of our bedroom dressed for the season.
It was not overly Christmasy so we've kept it up for winter.

I found a new gray velvet pillow at Tuesday Morning.
We already had the matching throw.

We've had this Lane set since 2010. The bed is fine but the tops of the nightstands are trashed. Bill's is buckled and mine is flaking. We will probably be doing something to repair or replace these. It's a little disappointing since it was supposed to be our "forever" furniture.

I found the plaid throw the same day that I found the pillow.
I love it! You know how much I love plaid during the fall and winter months.

The darling yarn and cotton pillow is from Tuesday Morning as well. We have had it for two years.

I used to retreat to our room and sit on the chaise when we had teenagers.
The teenagers have morphed into adults so the chaise is a receptacle for pillows at night.

I loved my planter filled with berries and greens. The rose print is from an antique book.

The amaryllis came from my friend, Judith. She has a darling pop up shop at Christmas.
The red berry wreath was a thrift store find.

It was only $2.99.

That is about it.

I'll see you on tomorrow for Keep In Touch.
I will be back on Wednesday for Ten on the Tenth. I'm so excited to be a part of this collaboration.
I have the cutest shabby chic heart to share with you.
It's "no sew"!
There are some rooms around here that need repainting.
I haven't finished blogging about France.
We also haven't taken out the trailer yet. There is a reveal still in the works for that.
It's a new year and I'm excited about fresh possibilities.
Have a wonderful day.
Stay away from those rams.

Magnolia Market Inspired Master Bedroom

Our room got a mini makeover with all new bedding in January
I wanted something that would easily fit in the washer and dryer.
 Bill wanted something without ruffles.
I don't think he realized that the new set had scallops.
Scallops are a little like ruffles - just saying.
I love the scallops because they always look perfect unlike ruffles that need fussing with.

The bedding all came from Tuesday Morning.
The coverlet and pillow sham set is Linea Casa by Sferra.
It is gorgeous.
The blanket is Peacock Alley.
It is so soft and comfortable.

Joanna Gaines, Magnolia Market, Yellow

The yellow pillow from Magnolia Market inspired the new color scheme.
Bill's grandmother made the afghan.
Does it match perfectly or what?

The art piece above the headboard also came from Tuesday Morning.
All it needed was a coat of chalk paint to cover up the black.

Assembling stuff for a new color scheme is one of my favorite aspects of decorating.

I already knew that I didn't have much yellow. What I didn't find at Magnolia Market, I picked up here around town.
The platter came from our local antique mall.
I saw similar plates in Waco but I didn't buy any because they all had a chip or two.
I refuse to buy something already chipped.

I found the same pattern at home with no chips.
The pattern is Yellow Rock Roses by Blue Ridge Southern Pottery.
I love how the flowers match the silk ones we got in Waco.
Perfect.

I found a candle holder and some other silk flowers at Hobby Lobby.

You can see that the room still has a lot of white.

Even before white became a "thing" I've always tried to have neutral bedding so that the bed can be layered in seasonal colors.

The vanity tray was a birthday gift from my sister in law.
The bakelite jar came from Bill's Granny Vi.

The Balenciaga perfume came from an estate sale.
I'd hoped the bottle was Lalique but I don't think it is.

The bird print came from my big Audubon book.
I love being able to cut a page out of the book to create a new art piece.

We've managed quite well without the ceiling fan.
It seemed touch and go last summer until we figured out that our system was low on coolant.
We each have a fan on our side of the bed to control our temperature.
My fan runs non stop all summer.

The chandelier was a curbside find.

I already had the little yellow gingham pillow.
The little table came from an antique store years ago.

The little metal piece next the armoire came from the trip to Hobby Lobby.

Bill likes the crisper cleaner feel of this new look.
I adore the pops of yellow.

Thanks for stopping in and having a look at our spring and summer bedroom.
I hope you are having a blessed day.
