What I'm Wearing This Summer/ Fashion Over 50

I'll be honest with you. I'm over 50 - way over.
It's hard to know what to wear. I don't want to dress like a teen but I don't want to dress frumpy either.
I've been saving a few summer outfit photos to show you.
Let me know what you are wearing in the comment section below.

The bag is the Multicolor Lodge P.M. by Louis Vuitton.
It is an older discontinued line. I'd always loved it but couldn't afford it new.
I've updated the style by adding a cross body strap.
The sandals are by Italian Shoemakers.
I actually bought them last summer but never wore them.

I've nearly worn them out this summer.
You can find similar shoes at DSW.

Blue jeans and a black tee shirt are a staple outfit for a cooler summer day.

I got this embroidered shirt out in East Texas at an outlet and I wore it to go eat for Bill's birthday.
I wore it with some Walmart jeggings.
The bag is a very vintage Christian Dior bag that I found it in an antique mall in East Texas.
I always dig through piles of old purses hoping to find a treasure.
The gold sandals are a few seasons old. The backs have the cutest chain detail.

I haven't really been wearing shorts this summer.
Little swing dresses have been my summer staple.

This sleeveless black one was a Walmart find. It is so comfortable.
It was under $15.00.

A black swing dress by Soprano came from Nordstrom Rack.
I love this one so much that I went and got another one.
It's been my "go to" staple for a quick dinner out or for errands on a hot day.

That is one of my favorite tips - buy multiples of a favorite item so that when one wears out, you have another in reserve.

It's great with leggings too.
I plan on wearing this outfit in France when we go next month.

I wore this dark chambray dress to church yesterday.
It also came from Walmart.

I'm not really a belt type of girl because I haven't had a waist since I was a teenager.
I cut the belt loops off of it which is another good tip for you.
The waist on a dress may not be in a flattering spot for your body type.

The little Gucci mini bag is another oldie. It was one of my first designer bag purchases off of eBay.
The Navy blue shoes are Ralph Lauren.
He makes some good and cute shoes. These were from DSW.
DSW or Nordstrom Rack are my favorite places to find shoes.

That's about it for me.
I'll be back later in the week with a trailer update and some late summer decorating.
Have a wonderful day.

I might be linking to these fun parties.

  1. You look adorable and age appropriate in all of these outfits, Katie!

  2. so cute Katie! I always love seeing what everyone is wearing. LOVE your amazing purse collection!

  3. All of these are cute! Buying multiples of something you really love is a great idea. I do that with certain things.

  4. You look cute in all your clothes. I'm wearing sweats due to three times a week trips to the chiropractor these days trying to get my upper back/right arm cleared up.

  5. I love all of your dresses. I too find them to be cool and comfortable for errands. I can't wear jeans in the summer though..I'm quite sure I would pass out and die right in the grocery store.

  6. I'm also way over 50! My "go to" this summer has been a pull-on jeans skirt (Macy's) and a rayon blend T. The one I wore yesterday is from Target. I liked the fabric---I love good fabric!--so much that I bought it in black and in white. My other summer favorite is a swing dress similar to yours. It also came from Macy's and I'm considering buying it in another color. Maybe I'll just get another black one instead! I seldom wear jeans or leggings in the summer--too hot! I's wearing a tunic and capri-length leggings today to take my husband to the Dr. I like to be stylish but age-appropriate and definitely not frumpy! I recently wore a dress from last summer that made me feel "old" so it's going in the give-away bag!

  7. Usually men know very little about fashion and they go completely bewildered while shopping for somebody who has a genuinely refined knowledge, sense and taste of fashion. Liketoknowit

  8. Working with suppliers to negotiate prices suggests that a fashion buyer must have good interpersonal skills, be educated in market costs and also in consumer demands. Hush Duscount Code

  9. A fashion editor works under the pressure of meeting deadlines, supervising writers, discovering features and fresh ideas all while staying current on the industry and scanning the levels of competition.

  10. A fundamental hotspot for the group of onlookers that makes the peruser stride by step.

  11. On average, the top NYFW brand photos generated 37,448 interactions per photo, most of which were product-driven. teesnow
