Early Signs Of Spring

Last year we had exactly three days of winter weather.
This year we seemed to have real winter weather. We didn't have snow or ice but the temperatures were consistently lower.

The flowers seem to be loving the warmth after the cold.

The colors look so vibrant.

My hyacinths were so much fuller after lower temperatures.

Usually I get skinny stalks, not chubby normal blooms.

Very rarely do I get repeat daffodils.

I have fluffed the cushions on the deck.

All the plants have been put back out to bask in the sun.

We may still get a freeze before Easter, so I'll have to keep an eye on them.

Spring is in the air.
It's time to put on my new cute spring sweaters

and some cute new floral tops and get back into the classroom.
Florals are all the rage this spring, or so I hear.

Are there signs of spring where you are?

Tell me what you think of this.

I can't even. This was in the lesson plans for the first day at my long term sub job.
It's been 15 years since I taught phonics. I've got some studying to do.
I'll be back for Ten on the 10th on Saturday.
You don't want to miss it.
I'm also going to try to get some pictures of the flowering trees. They are amazing.
Have a blessed day!
Katie

  1. I've always thought phonics was the best way to learn to read, so of course, I loved your last photo! But I'm sure methods have changed a LOT!

Longing to see those bulbs pop (my shoots of daffs got buried in this week's snow) and those pretty pansies again! All favorites!

  3. Oh Katie so excited for you that you are having Spring. We have a ways to go but it is nice to see your Texan girls getting your Spring flower blooms. Have fun with subbing. After I retired as a nurse I went on to sub in the school district as an RN. They have nurses in all the schools because of all the mainstreaming of disable kids and kids on lost of medications. So I love doing the sub assignments. It keeps my skills fresh and I can pick and chose when I want to sub. It is a win win. Enjoy your long term assignment.
    Hugs,
    Kris

  6. Just the tiniest sign of spring here - the weather was unusually warm in February, so my bulbs started poking through the ground. Of course since then we've had three snowstorms, and another on the way, so sadly, my only sign of spring is snow-covered. Thanks for sharing at Best of the Weekend!
