Prepping for a Nordic Inspired Christmas

I spent the weekend prepping for Christmas.
Bill and I pulled the trees down from the attic.

I'm not sure how but we had 6 trees up there. The garage looked like a Christmas tree store.

Once they were fluffed and re-shaped a couple of them got a quick dusting of "snow" with flat white spray paint.

As they dried, I snuggled on the couch with the cat and pinned some inspiration.
All of my inspiration pictures were Nordic in feel so the yellowish walls of the living room were not going to cut it.

I knew as soon as the popcorn was scraped and the ceiling painted this summer that it was only a matter of time before the walls needed a coat or two of paint.
I decided to get them done before I put up the Christmas tree.
Here is a sneak peak at the new living room.

The paint is just Glidden pre-mixed white.
It has just a touch of gray.

The thermostat looked so yellow on the white walls so it got a coat of black spray paint suitable for plastic.
Masking tape protected all the electronic parts.

Here it is before:
(Not too bad on the beige walls but gross on the white walls.)

After:

More pictures will have to wait until another day.
The sun started its rapid decent just about the time everything was all cleaned up.
What have you been up to?

  2. Oh I love your new white walls! I think you will find your room is brighter now. Good idea to paint the thermostat too. Looking forward to seeing your Nordic inspired Christmas décor this year!

  3. Your walls look great! You actually used white spay paint on your trees...that is a great idea and they look great!

  4. You are so ambitious, Katie! When the mood strikes, you just "do it"! I need to be more like you and not waste months and years thinking about what I should do. I must be really lazy, because I traded in our one and only full size tree for a 5 foot tabletop (aka easy) tree last year. hehe

I can't wait to see your Nordic Christmas theme this year!
