I counted them up and I've painted 20 pieces of furniture.
All but two have been painted white.
White furniture used to be relegated to the lake house or the cottage.
New white furniture is marketed for little girl's rooms.
I've taken it seriously. It unites my different wood tones.

At the moment we prefer darker wood tones.
The mid-tone orange oak and pine had passed its prime.
I left some of the tops or interiors stained to coordinate with our darker pieces.
The garden room is our first all white room.
This treatment is great for a small space because white takes up less visual space.
It is clean, fresh and pretty.
It feels like I have a house full of new stuff.
I love white furniture.
I'll be working on a new piece next week.

Your white furniture all looks so pretty, Katie. I do like the way it unifies pieces but also goes so well with darker stains. I think white furniture is always a great choice.
ReplyDeleteKatie- It looks beautiful. I went through the same thing a few years ago...and painted everything that I could get at white. lol I still love it...but have brought in a few other soft colors now. I also am starting to fall in love with black furniture again. Back in the late 60's I painted everything black and people thought I was nuts. I had crappy old pieces and it covered up most of the flaws and unified everything xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI love all white rooms and all of that painted white furniture. You've done a great job giving your home a light and airy feeling.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all your wonderful pieces. You're so right about the manufacturerers. White painted pieces bring cohesiveness, and a sense of "belonging together". Too many different woods and metals cause a room to look disjointed and haphazard. I love antiques, but more often than not a coat of paint can make them usable and unifying in our spaces. great post! ps, I want to come live in your sunroom!
ReplyDeleteI love white furniture combined with darker ones! Your pieces are lovely!
ReplyDeleteyour dark wood with the all white makes my heart sing. Love the striped pillows and the bird pillow. I could move right in and be at home.
ReplyDeleteI am with you with the white furniture. It all looks so great. Your home is so cozy and comfy.

Holy moly, Katie! 20 pieces! It all really looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteA the pieces look beautiful! I think my fav is that secretary desk so cute. Your room reminds me a lot of how mine looks...I have two painted white dressers, and one dresser that is still stained.
