The other day I showed you pictures of our linen storage.
A new late summer/early fall color scheme for the guest bed wasn't quite coming together but the master bedroom came together just fine.
I pulled all of the red and blue off of the bed
and it looked a little boring.
I folded an older quilt with tan, pink and red and set it on the end of the bed.
The deep crimson and pink flowers matched the flowers on a brown pillow cover but it needed more.
My favorite needlepoint pillow usually goes in the sunroom but it looks wonderful here with the other florals.
A brown satin throw from the deep recesses of the armoire sits on top of the quilt.
It still needed something.
This brown velveteen fabric is perfect!
It feels so luxurious and is gorgeous with the lace pillow slip peeking out.
The newly stitched brown cases ground the scheme.
A thrift store painting adorns the wall above my night table.
Can you believe it was only a $1.00?
You will see no such adornment above Bill's nightstand, however.
He has a clock, a fan and his current reading assortment.

A small wooden box with hand painted roses graces the shelf.
The brown bottle came from Bill's grandparent's house.
I've seem many of these bottles over the years but I'm not really sure what came in them originally.
I hope it isn't something like Milk of Magnesia.

The warmer tones of fall are not really my favorite and I can only live with them for a short while.
Brown, orange, rust or gold aren't as easy to live with as my usual color palettes but I do like this.
I figured out the guest room and I can't wait for you to see it.

oh Katie, I love this, that brown pillow is one of my favorites! so pretty!
ReplyDeleteYour room looks so lovely and just ready for Fall.
ReplyDeleteI like it a lot, Katie. I'm not a big fan of Fall colors either but I think the colors you put together look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou have the best stash of linens and things for the seasons. The brown is so rich and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI like the brown accents! I wear mostly earth tone colors, but surprisingly I don't decorate with them. The browns bring out a softer look to your wood bed and the needlepoint pillow is the perfect accent piece.
ReplyDeleteFall is my favorite season, however, I don't wear these colors or decorate with them. :) A few things here and there for the season and that's it. Your bed looks so comfy and cozy! Love that chaise too.

Well Katie, this room came together beautifully! I love the contrast between the browns and whites. I don't think I would have thought to do that. The needlepoint pillow is gorgeous! I love the vignette with the oak! And I'm drooling over the picnic tin! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Just beautiful Katie!
