I've not been a big fan for quite a while.
There is the bittersweet loss of sublime freedom even though there is excitement about being back at work for a new school year.
This year there was also a little panic that I might not be able to keep up with my family, my work and my blog.
Everything is going well so far.

50+ years of being on a school calendar makes me feel that September is more of a new year than January.
Even though there hasn't been much in the way of a weather change, cooler temps are on the way in a few weeks.
I can't wait.
I worked a few apples into the decor this weekend.
We've had the vintage alphabet blocks for a long time.
I can't remember where I got the certificate of merit but it looks very old.
The red apple and black transferware is just too pretty.
The slate was my mom's or grandmother's.
The pencil container was my mom's.
I love that I can still see the handwriting after all these years.
Oh, I love September!

Your kitchen is so pretty. The apples are perfect for this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI'm certainly with you in cheering September in and August out! Love all your vintage décor. Hope you have a great year this time around.
ReplyDeleteKatie your little vignettes are just divine. I adore the vintage blocks and your Moms pencil case! Can I persuade you to share this at my Five Star Frugal linkup this week? Displaying vintage pretties is a favourite theme in living life elegantly for less, I think. Gorgeous post. Love, Mimi xxx

ReplyDeleteI love your decorations with apples in your house! So pretty for fall.
ReplyDeleteI love the apples, especially the first wooden one. I agree, to me September is the first of the New Year or should be. My kids are adults and grandkids are in high school, but I still think of this month being the beginning. To me it is a time of new beginnings and Home. A time for family, cooking, relaxing, and just enjoying life.
ReplyDeleteI wish our schools started back in September like they did when I was little. But now they go back in August. Seems too early. You have some cute old school things. Very appropriate for a teacher!
ReplyDeleteI love the school theme antiques and apples in your decor ! Being a teacher is such a beautiful job!
