The Language Of The Violet

"The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance."
Psalm 16:6

The other day I stepped out into the backyard to plant a few flowers.
I looked down at the lower part of the yard and was a little annoyed that the lawn people didn't weed eat in between the stepping stones.

I noticed that my woodland violets were blooming.
Suddenly, I was thrilled they hadn't done it.

It felt like someone wiser and more experienced than I was in control.

The force of the weed eater would have obliterated these precious plants.

These dainty flowers spring up in between the rocks, oblivious to drought, flood, wind,
heat, or cold.
They are not limited to the boundary lines of the rock border.

They are a precious bloom lifted toward the sun.

The violet symbolizes love, modesty, faith, nobility, intuition, and dignity.

Dignity - "bearing, conduct, or speech indicative of self-respect or appreciation of the formality or gravity of an occasion or situation. Nobility or elevation of character;
worthiness: dignity of sentiments."
A timely message for me.

"She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. "
Proverbs 31:25
I just love the language of flowers!

  6. Violets have always been my favorite flowers. It's too cold here yet for the white ones to appear, they come up everywhere!! There are tiny purple ones with variegated leaves that come up between the patio blocks and I love them so.......

  7. I didn't know what the violet symbolizes, thanks for sharing. I do know about the rose, as it's my favorite flower. Your violets are dainty, but it sounds like they are sturdy flowers as well.
