There is a great debate between the early Christmas decorators and those that believe in the sanctity of Thanksgiving decor.
I've seen various memes where a turkey is telling Santa to "back off".
The internet is silly sometimes.
I've seen actual cases of internet shaming over Christmas decor.
If someone wants Christmas in November, it's not my business. I personally prefer a couple of weeks to display my turkey collection while secretly listening to Christmas music.
I say "secretly" because Bill doesn't want to listen to Christmas music - ever!
I'm sad for his choices.
Holiday mugs are also available for coffee drinking while visions of Christmas decorations float through my head.
The trees are brought down from the attic a week or so before Thanksgiving.
Slowly, Christmas starts to emerge.
Internet shame me if you must, these turkeys are about to go down for a long winter, spring, and summer nap.
Christmas decorating is about to begin.
Fun, fun, fun!
Have a wonderful day.
Katie
I like respecting the turkey and I'll leave up my fall till Friday after Thanksgiving. But the Christmas is making its way upstairs and I suspect by Thursday night, the leaves will be down, the turkeys away and more than a few sparkles and spangles headed up. I'm so overloaded on ideas from my Christmas decorating on a Shoestring workshop, I can't wait! Plus, my official start to the holiday season -- the Greens market -- is Saturday. Yes, there will be Christmas carols! (Much to Rick's chagrin -- he's glad for them on Christmas week. Period. Tough.)
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I love each and every one of your beautiful displays!
I say there's nothing wrong with following your own heart! For myself, decorating for Christmas takes a lot of time and energy so I want to do it early enough to enjoy it for at least a month. I put Fall up early so I can enjoy that most favorite of all seasons for just about three months! I'll be looking forward to seeing your beautiful Christmas posts!
ReplyDeleteLove your display of your turkey collection. Seasons are so short right now ... can't believe it is time to decorate for Christmas. Happy Fall ... hugs ... Audrey Z.
ReplyDeleteI like your Turkey decor. So cute. I decorate early so I can enjoy the holiday and my daughter hosts Thanksgiving so it all works out. Whatever floats everyone's boat is what is important.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
Love your turkeys! Christmas decorating starts after Thanksgiving at our house.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Miss Kris...whatever floats your boat. Seriously, who has time (or the gall) to shame someone for the holiday decor they choose and when they choose to display it? The holidays Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas have gotten so commercial and overblown that those of us who don't go all out could feel a little intimidated...nah...not this gal. Miss Linda also has the right idea: follow your own heart. xoxo P.S. Love the turkeys...
ReplyDeleteI usually don't decorate for Christmas until the weekend after Thanksgiving, but this year our girls won't be home for Thanksgiving, so Christmas will be arriving early at 911.
ReplyDeleteYour autumn decor looks lovely. :o)
Katie, I love your Transferware and turkeys! I have had my fall up since September, but with getting our new floors and painting trim I didn't get out my Halloween or fall. I am missing all of my turkeys. I did pull our my shakers and one thrift find to add to my tablescape. I usually don't start until after Thanksgiving, but i think I will start on my living room and bedroom this weekend.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
I do love all your turkey dishes. It's funny that people would care when Christmas decorating begins! Personally I'm not a fan of Thanksgiving, but love Christmas. So when you come to my house, a person should be ready for a full blast of Christmas once we're into Mid-November. Truly "Go Big Or Go Home" should be the sign on my front door.
ReplyDeleteHi Katie, just hopping by to let you know that I will be featuring you at SYC today.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
I love your turkeys and you should display them. There is plenty of time for Christmas decorations.
ReplyDeleteLove, love your turkey decorations! Tomorrow starts off Christmas decorating with holiday coffee in a Santa mug! Thank for sharing your turkeys!
