Fall In Love With Texas Day 3

Welcome back to our tour featuring some of my favorite Texas bloggers.
They are so creative!
There will be three great blogs to visit after a quick look at our fall kitchen.
I spend a lot of time in the kitchen so it's fun to sprinkle some fall decor around the space.

Our kitchen is quite dark because of the enclosed garden room adjacent to the space.
We've done all we can to lighten it up.  White cabinets and a white marble back splash have helped tremendously.

We had a huge upper cabinet that looked like it was pulling away from the wall. In actuality, the integrity of the cabinet was beginning to fail. The front, sides and shelves were pulling away from the backing which would have caused all of our everyday dishes and glassware to fall crashing to the floor.
Removing it ended up being a huge blessing in disguise because it further lightened up the space.

New, antique, and vintage blue and white dishes adorn the shelves.
Removing two cabinet doors on the buffet on the opposite side of the room brought more display space.

Dish placement looks a little random but it's really not. It's one of my favorite places to decorate.

Tiny white pumpkins dot the space and look serene with blue and white porcelain.

You know I'm a huge fan of vintage graphics used in Decor.
One of my children received a Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme book as a baby gift.
It didn't end up being a favorite book. I thought about giving it away but the cute illustrations stopped me in my tracks. I mentally catalogued all the nursery rhymes in the recesses of my brain and I knew
Peter, Peter Pumpkin Eater would be perfect for our fall kitchen decor even if it is a bizarre nursery rhyme.

I popped it in an Eastlake Victorian picture frame. These frames are commonly know as Adirondack or Black Forest picture frames.
I love them especially at this time of year.

These frames add a perfect bit of fall whimsey with the oak leaves in the corners.

Simple, serene and fun.

Thanks for taking a look.

  4. Katie, your kitchen is so inviting! I love the open shelves, and it is a treat to see your pretty collections. I'm a fan of the carved wooden frames too, and I pick them up when I can find them for a reasonable price. They are perfect for fall and winter. Cute idea to frame the nursery rhyme.
Thanks again for hosting us this week.

  6. Your kitchen is so pretty! Love the dishes and the framed nursery rhymes. I am so glad you shared what type of frame those are. I have one and it is one of my favorites, especially for fall. I shared it hanging on my china cabinet in my early fall home tour.

    Beautiful post!

  8. O.K. Katie, when are you going to admit that you climbed up to the old cabinet and pulled it from the wall so you could get your beautiful new shelves :)
