A Moss Heart

February in Texas is our reward for making it through August. 

We have some chilly days and the slim possibility of snow and ice but we also have some gorgeous weather. 

On one such day, I noticed some moss growing in our yard. 

I love moss indoors for the in between winter and spring time of year.

In other parts of the country some of my blogging friends are working to keep warm.
I am warming up the house with touches of spring and some hearts in keeping with February in Texas. 

This project is a few years old but I am sharing it again. It was inspired by Debra at Common Ground

Hobby Lobby had a set of two paper mache´ hearts and some moss. 

The hearts were $2.99. 

The moss was $4.99.

This project is easy but it's a little messy. The moss loves popping around everywhere.  

I painted the surface of the heart with glue. Tacky or Elmers glue works great.  

Lay the moss onto the wet glue. 

Once the surface of the heart was covered with moss, I embellished it with ribbon, rickrack and flowers.   

Since creating this a few years ago, it is a constant in my late winter/early spring vignettes. 

This year some little purple flowers were added. 

I've also used this method to make topiary balls. 

I love the moss on this little fairy cottage from Michael's.
