Kitchen Changes Coming

I am thrilled to pieces that Mr. Bill said I could paint the kitchen cabinets.
They are just builder grade cabinets from 1990.
They aren't super quality but I think they are better than what we could afford now.
The doors and facings are solid wood.

We refaced the sides of them with bead board a few years ago.

I even aged them by wiping black oil based paint in the crevices. It helped tone down the golden oak, but didn't cure them of the overall goldness!!

I added the pulls and knobs a few months ago. It was a last ditch effort to help me fall back in love with these cabinets.
Didn't work.
I took two doors off and made some display niches.

I had painted cabinets when we lived in Lubbock for three years.
They weren't painted correctly and they were constantly chipping. I had two small children and an infant. I didn't have time to deal with white cabinets.
There were always peanut buttery fingerprints.
Ohh. I wish I had a few peanut butter fingerprints now that the kids are all grown up.

I was going to do it myself, but I just couldn't muster up the energy.
I knew it would take a few weeks and that there would be paint everywhere.

We are having these done professionally.
I can't wait to show you.
Sprinkled with a kitchen cupboard redo,

  1. Katie Sue: Those cabinets are going to look fabulous. You've got a really good start with the hardware you chose and having them done professionally really saves time and they do come out so nicely. We painted inside and all the bodies but sent the doors and drawers out and do not regret it..Can't wait to see the finish project. I love the display you have with the doors gone..Happy Sunday..Judy

  2. They're going to turn out gorgeous!!! Can't wait to see how they turn out! ( definitely your newest follower )

( love of exclamation points lol )

    1. I think I might already be a follower. I will have to double check. Thank you for stopping by.

  3. It is an old hymnal holder from the back of a pew. It's perfect for platters. :)

  4. Congrats that you Mr. Bill said yes to painting the cabinets white. The are going to look gorgeous, like you I would go with having them done professionally, doing it yourself could be overwhelming. Can't wait to see them done! Thanks for sharing your inspiration with Sunday’s Best – you helped make the party a success!

  5. Can't wait to see them! Thank you for sharing. Visiting from Brambleberry Cottage. Would love it if you would share this at my Make it Pretty Monday party at The Dedicated House. Hope to see you at the bash! Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse

  6. Oh I can't wait to see your finished cabinets. I am in the process of painting mine right now and I am not moving to quickly. As a matter of fact, this one section I blogged about may be the only section that gets painted :) I am stopping over from Feathered Nest Friday and am a follower.
