Painting The Entry and The Stairwell

I was thrilled when Susan asked me to write a feature for her Life Behind the Blogger Series @ Must Love Junk
I'd be just as thrilled if you'd head over there to check it out.
Thank you, Susan, for the invitation.

The last time I painted the stairwell and entry way was about 16 years ago. They are both two stories high.
I was able to do it when I was much younger even though I'm afraid of heights.

Now we have a friend coming to paint for us.
I just couldn't face doing this myself and Bill hates painting.

You can imagine how dinged up these walls have become over the years.
The color is Antique White by Colorplace.
Color place is a Walmart paint.
Yup.
Walmart paint lasted 16 years.

For a long time I had the left overs to do touch ups but I ran out long ago and I couldn't get a perfect match with a new can.
This is a very yellowy cream and I'm ready for a grayer beige.
We will see what I find when I go by Sherwin Williams.

It will be a neutral because it will have to last a long time.
I'm not sure if I will change up the drapes but I'll be redoing the picture gallery before I put it back up - if I put it back up.

Our friend said it would only take a weekend or two.
Our youngest moves out today so I'll be working on getting that room fixed up as well.
What are you up to this weekend?

  3. Katie, Nice paint job. Funny how some of the cheaper paints looks just as good. I like the family photos going up the wall. xoxo,Susie

  5. Painting must be on a lot of our minds these days. :-) It always feels so fresh and clean after painting an area of the house.
