Fade Age Spots With This Weird Trick

Hello everybody.
It is time for another Katie Mansfield beauty tip.
You have seen those suspicious ads on the side of your Facebook page haven't you? Fade age spots with this weird trick. I don't know about you but I am too suspicious to click on those links.
I've been curious about that one weird trick is though.
I hardly consider myself a beauty expert but I've spent two years doing some research for you - two long years.
I'm blessed that I don't have premature gray hair but I have the misfortune of having premature age spots on my hands.

Seriously my hands looked so bad.
Here is what they looked two years ago.
I decided to try some fading cream or age spot corrector.
Some were okay. Some were worthless.
I've tried Mary Kay.
Sally's Beauty Supply
Oil of Olay
I even tried some natural remedies.
Hydrogen Peroxide
Baking Soda (It is a universal cure all is it not?)
Lemon Juice

This was taken in September of 2013 after more than a year of using creams. Ridiculous. Some spots actually looked worse.
I think that I had the most success with the Nutrogena
until I visited my new dermatologist.
I showed him a little spot on my hand that didn't look quite like the other age spots. It looked funny to me.
Well quicker than I could say "ouch" he started working on my spots with dry ice
He was kind and called them freckles. Ha!
I didn't scream but it was painful.
My age spots didn't look better, instead they looked like leporosy.

Soon the spots turned blackish and these scale like things fell off. Some of them scabbed over.
The others flaked off after a week and half or so. The spots continued to look red for a while but slowly they started to look better.

I tell you this in case you are afflicted with the same problem. It wasn't a huge deal to me but I was a little self conscience about it.
I've used moisturizer on my face since I was 13 but I didn't use lotion or sunscreen on my hands.
I will now in case these come back.
The Dr. said if I still wasn't happy with them that I needed to do laser next time.

My sister in law says it doesn't hurt but what does it cost?
My insurance covered all but $76.00 of this.

I guess because of the wonky looking spot.
It was worth it and it took ten years off of my hands.
They don't look so much like my Granny's hands anymore.
I hope you are having a great day and stay out of the sun!

  1. Thanks for the advise Katie, right now I only have one spot but I usually try to make an effort to put sun screen on my hands when I am out in the sun long. I should actually make an effort to do everyday no matter how long I am out. I saw on TV one time that this lady would wear gloves in her car while driving all year round. She said you would be surprised of how the sun rays go through the windows in your car and are harsh on your hands.

  2. Thanks so much for this advice, I will definitly put sunscreen on my hands from now on! Need to see my doctor!

  3. I'll remember this for sure. Sunscreen is the key. I had a similar spot taken off my chest last fall that turned out to be skin cancer. It really creeped me out and I'm becoming a sunscreen crazed woman.

  4. thanks for the tips! It sounds like going to a dermatologist is the best treatment for stuff like that. I'm 50 and don't have age spots yet. I do have some grey hair though. thank goodness for hair color! I am very fair skinned and have freckles and moles. So, I'm very careful in the sun. but, I'm like you and forget about my hands! I will keep that in mind this summer.

  5. Hi Katie. My hands DO look exactly like my grandmother's. I have always used lotion on my hands but not sunscreen. At this point, I'd rather work on my face but I'm too chicken even for that. I have worn bangs all of my life, so my forehead is really smooth with not too many wrinkles. The sun really can do damage. Your hands look beautiful I think..Happy Valentine's Day..Judy

  6. That's a huge change! Your hands look great! I didn't get the age spots, just the gray hair :( Thank you for linking up at my first BOTW party!

  7. Hi Katie! I have those darned age spots too! I had one remedied like you did because it was just huge. It does sting like fire though1 Your hands look lovely. Thanks so much for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  8. Wow! Your hands look lovely. What a difference.

  9. Wow, what a difference. I'm with you, I have a hard time buying into all the miracle cures. Good to hear you went directly to your dermatologist.
