Fall Guest Room in Rust

I had a little trouble.

I really wanted to warm up Rebekah's room for the fall.
The giant armoire didn't seem to be yielding enough to dress the bed for the changing of the seasons.
Let me just say, Walmart the weekend before school starts is not the place to be.
Neither is Joann's.
Ey, yi, yi.
The crying and screaming and that was just me!
You should have heard the small children.

Apparently, traditional florals with warmer tones like rust and orange are impossible to find.
All they seemed to have was contemporary florals or paisleys.
It wasn't what I was looking for.

The project was abandoned and I headed home to calmer and quieter surroundings.
While I was out, I recalled a quilt that we had.
It was several years old.

One side is aqua with coral roses. The other side has the same roses on an aqua stripe.
It would work.
We have had the rust throw from Tuesday Morning for several years.

The rust pillows used to be on the deck.

They have been washed and ironed.

The little needlepoint was a brick covered doorstop when I found it.

The rust lamp came from the thrift store.

The book with the chipmunk is just too cute.
Thanks for coming by.

  1. I think you got the warm look you wanted just by shopping your home, Katie. I love the white bedspread and the shabby chic flowered quilt at the foot of the bed. So that was you I heard having a temper tantrum in Walmart?

I went to our JoAnn's today and there was only one other customer there!

  2. Charming room. I love the mirror, those sweet etched it all!
    Have a great weekend!

  3. What a wonderful room, it's so full of charm! I love that darling pillow, it's perfect!
    Happy I found your blog!
Have a great and sweet Saturday!

  4. Sweet room and that mirror is lovely. The rust pillows are a great way of adding some fall color.

  5. You did a beautiful job making the room warmer. The throw and pillows are just the right touch and I adore the mirror on the wall.

  6. Her room is so pretty with the touches of rust color added to it! I love the warmth that it brings to the room. You were brave to tackle Walmart when the back to school shopping was going on. I know the weekends in general are crowded at that store let alone if there is a special event going on.

  7. lovely for Fall or any time. It just calls softly welcome.

  8. Your guest room looks so cozy and so ready for fall guests. Love the touches of rust.

  9. Nicely done, Katie! I love how you have the rust spread throughout the room. The quilt you had works perfectly; just the right amount of the rust color and that throw is wonderful.

  10. Very pretty. I love the colors. Great job!

  11. very pretty and cozy room. it would be a great place to read, have a nap or just hide.
