How I Created Farmhouse Style

Do you like Farmhouse Style?
I've slowly added elements of Farmhouse Style to our home over the course of the last few years.

It all started when we painted our cabinets.

We chose vintage style pulls for the drawers.

It helps that my dad built the perfect farmhouse trestle table back in 1950.

When the cabinet started to fall apart and off of the wall, adding open shelves helped create a farmhouse feel.

A farmhouse wouldn't have had a room full of identical cabinets.
We still love the open shelving.

Cutting boards are utilitarian but also decorative.

The pig cutting board is perfect.

I'm in love with cow cream pitchers.
Old mason jars add farmhouse style.

An old piece of barn wood can become a tray for the centerpiece.

In the living room I beefed up the mantel with a wood surround, faux planking and white paint made it worthy of a modern farmhouse.

Items repurposed from the feed store or a barn are a must.

A galvanized container has been put to use holding throws for the colder months.  It was only $12.99.

The painted banister matches the fireplace.

Many of our old hand me down pieces of furniture have also been painted white. They have a "collected over time" look compatible with farmhouse style.

Utilitarian pieces become storage.

This look is monochromatic.
I've added color and texture with plants and baskets.

That's how I have added this popular decorating trend into our decor.
