I'm a New Yorker.
I should know better.
I've been in Texas a long time.
I made eye contact.
"No, no, no!"
Never, ever make eye contact.
I did and the next thing I know a lady from the _____ make up counter is telling me that she has the perfect thing for the dark circles under my eyes.
Well, this is awkward.
Did she just tell me that I look haggard?
I believe she did.
She set me down on the stool and proceeded to get her little magic eye cream/gel.
I was starting to get annoyed but she was massaging the stuff all around my eye and it soothed any annoyance straight out of me.
I still wasn't going to buy it-not for $150.00.
I will splurge on a purse or a pair of shoes but not makeup.
Once she had massaged all the tired lines and dark circles away, she proceeded to make up my face with a foundation that looked two shades darker than my natural skin tone.
She rounded it off with some bronzer.
I felt like I looked ready to make an appearance on The Tonight Show.
I couldn't wait to get back to the hotel to clean off my face.
It wasn't all bad.
They praised my gorgeous hair and my hair cut. "Thank you, Natalia."
They raved over my skin and bone structure.
Haha.
Do they say that to everyone?
Probably.
It was still nice to hear it even if it didn't result in a sale.
Do you splurge on makeup?
Before you do. Check out this site.
I don't buy anything until I've read the reviews.
I'm so glad I trusted my instincts.

I've spent money for years and years..(well, I'm 78, so that tells you how MANY years) on certain makeups...and learned many yrs ago that just 'cause it's expensive doesn't mean it's good. I have used Clinique for years and it's just ok.
ReplyDeleteHello Katie, We met the other day at the retreat hosted by Joyce. I wish we would have had a chance to visit more, perhaps next time.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to what your saying, I don't like other people doing my make up and the expense of cosmetics can be ridiculous.
Coconut oil does wonders for the skin when applied at night before bed time and those dark circles well I've found drinking more water, getting a good nights sleep and exercise make a huge difference.
Right now I use nicole miller products but I don't go hog wild. I'm more of a keep it simple kind of person.

I'm with you! I'd rather have a new purse.
ReplyDeleteSadly---the ladies you meet in department stores rely on a percentage of your purchase for income. As a rule I never sit down with them. The products are expensive and they work their butts off to sell them.
ReplyDeleteAt Sephora yo can get a lot of advice and even a makeover, they get nothing but accolades from customer's emails (and who does that?).
I like beauty blogs as long as they are not getting paid for promoting products...and yes, there are a few. I am a product junkie and I bet I could give a lot of advice just from my hit or misses!! ;-D
