I'm ridiculously scared of things that creep around at night.
We went house hunting in East Texas a few weeks ago.
Bill and I would love a weekend house and a place where we can retire someday.
The first house we toured was a no go.
At first it appeared that it was meant to be.
The front yard was great.
The exterior had potential. It had this balcony and a front porch.

The living room needed a coat of paint. The orange wall is a faux finish.
The kitchen needed to be gutted. A stairway to a second story addition took up about three feet of the kitchen so the fridge stuck out into the middle of the room.
The dining room was okay and would provide floor space for a remodeled kitchen.
There were three decent sized bedrooms.
An original pink bathtub. I've had one before.
The bonus room had brick detail that would look cute painted.
Bill said this addition was poorly constructed and he would tear it off.
That would free up the floor space in the kitchen.
It came with a barn apartment.
It also came complete with families of uninvited guests.
It gave me the heebie jeebies.
I'm out!
Come back and I will show you house number two.

How exciting, Katie! Hope you find your dream house! Looking forward to seeing house #2.
ReplyDeleteHow great that you can house hunt without time pressure. The perfect one will show up (and you'll have fun looking in the meantime).
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your dream home hunt. I love looking at houses. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteHow fun Katy!! Smart idea!!
ReplyDeleteYou should talk to Cecilia at B Farm. She has a place in East Texas and might be able to point you in some direction that helps. :)
ReplyDeleteI love looking at houses too! That last picture cracks me up... I think a little mouse lost her shoe! Ha Ha!!

I feel like I'm reading a script for Fixer Upper - can't wait to see what's next.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with SYC.
Well I can tell you this living in the country will always come with unwanted guests. Good Luck house hunting - we close on land very soon to begin a new adventure. More land this time and a smaller home.

How exciting Katie!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your progress reports.
Is it a long drive from where you live?
My husband and I have been searching for the right home to call our own for a while now. Unfortunately, we have come across plenty of 'close but no cigar' options thanks to uninvited guests like the ones you've found. We spoke with a realtor in our area and our showings and options have been so much better lately.
