I'm not sure why anyone would start a rumor like this but it was circulating around the internet that Chip and Joanna Gaines were taking temporary retirement from making T.V.
According to Chip's Twitter feed it is a rumor.
Joanna reiterated the same thing on her Instagram.
They are currently filming Season 4.
It is slated to air sometime in the late fall. Last year their season aired over Christmas and they had a Christmas episode which was fun.
According to Joanna, they have 4 crews working on 8 houses.
Chip and Jo stop by each one each day to do a little filming and to check up on the progress.
They have just opened the garden shop at The Silos and Magnolia Market.
They have also recently opened their bakery.
I seriously doubt that they would stop making the show at this point.
I believe they know that the whims of the populace dictate their popularity.
Hopefully, they are capitalizing on the eventuality that they might fall out of favor.

If you don't believe me, ask Candace Olson. Her show was vastly popular and now?
Not so much.
I'm so glad it was just an internet rumor because I love Fixer Upper and I don't want to see it go the way of some of my other favorite shows.
That's all for now!

I hadn't heard the rumor, but glad to hear it isnt' true. They have got to be HGTV's highest rated show at the moment.
ReplyDeleteKatie,
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard the rumor either, and like Amy, am glad to hear it isn't true. Yes, they are business savvy to be expanding their brand into more areas while they are in the spotlight. When did you meet Chip? Somehow, I missed knowing that you met him and had your photo taken with him.
Judith
I have not heard that rumor but glad it is a rumor. I love Fixer Upper. One of my faves. Have a good week.

I loved Candice...but, yes, there's always someone new coming along that has even more to offer....
ReplyDeleteCandace is the very best at super high-end contemporary - she will always be the goddess in that department - and C & J are the reigning royalty of all things southern farmhouse. I am glad they have lots of difference businesses going - hope they don't burn out - that's a LOT to reckon with - esp since they're children are young.
ReplyDeleteI hope they always always always keep God first in their lives - it is through His blessings they have done so well - may they always make good, sound choices. They're darling. Hope they always stay a happy family!
Katie, Thank you for clarifying this rumor and squashing it. I read it on FB; just goes to show you can't believe everything you hear. I'm so thankful that Chip and Joanna aren't ending their show. I don't use Twitter, so would not have known.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Noreen
didn't hear the rumor, but I'm glad it's just nonsense. Love the show and seeing Waco area on TV. I used to work in Waco so it's fun to see the place on TV
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that it is just a rumor. So true about Candace....also Joan Steffend, Matt and Sherri, Designing for the Sexes, Design on a Dime.....so many good shows that ended abruptly.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, it is ONLY a rumor. Truthfully, I had begun to wonder with all of their enterprises growing and flourishing along with all of their new business start-ups, if they were even going to have time to continue a television series. Let's hope the show is at the top of their "to do list". As you have mentioned, with HGTV, one never knows. Series come and go on that network without a whisper. I still enjoy viewing some HGTV programming, but for me, it is not nearly the draw it once was. The varied number of shows, themes and personalities were what drew me to become such a follower. I think we're not the only people who remember and miss the entertaining, educating and valuable information that early HGTV provided to its audiences. It has become a 3 or 4 show network with the remainder of its programming hours overloaded with repeats. Too bad.
ReplyDeleteVery silly It's not like they are going on their 18th season! LOVE this show!

What I am most impressed with is what Chip and Joanna have done for the city of Waco. They have revitalized the city and they were named "Citizen of the Year" - not sure what year. Shops are thriving, restaurants are doing great, real estate is selling . . . all because of a cute couple who love their town and what they do.
ReplyDeleteI've heard other silly rumors and it just makes me wonder why people have to downplay someone's success.
ReplyDeletePeople and rumors! I suppose if they were to quit, they would have their own production crew and still keep us all motivated and smiling!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear the rumors are false as I have just recently started watching their shows! Would like to travel to Waco just to check out the Magnolia Bakery! Blessings, Janet
ReplyDeleteWhew! That was close! So glad to hear when the next season starts....I am a little tired of re-runs but never get tired of Chip's antics!
ReplyDeleteWell, they certainly are busy! I have their show on automatic record - so glad they are coming back for a new season. Someday I hope to get down to Waco to visit their shops!
ReplyDeleteI love it too. Thanks for sharing this! I'd love to review the book!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear this. I love Fixer Upper! Thanks for sharing at TOHOT.

ReplyDeleteThis is the first I've heard of this and I hope I don't hear it again; but unfortunately, all good things come to an end. I just hope it goes on for a few more years, at least!
ReplyDeleteI admit that I don't watch TV, but glad this was just a rumor. I'd hate to see this show go away because I hear great things about it. I need to get to Waco to visit the bakery and nursery.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the show also so I am glad it is a rumor. Actually it is the only good show on HGTV. I miss Candace, Sarah Richardson and others.
ReplyDeleteI never heard this rumor before. I don't believe they're even close to ready to taking a break. They're in their prime with all of this. I have read a couple of stories regarding some of the homeowners that had their home fixed by them have decided to rent their homes out and capitalize on it.
ReplyDeleteThey are on a roll, why would they retire? With new things added all the time. it is a a pleasure to see them progress.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard that rumor. Glad to know it's not true though. I thought about that very thing recently. Remember when Martha Stewart was everywhere?! Now, not so much. They have a specific "look". If people tire of it or a "new look" suddenly becomes more popular from a different direction, then it could hurt their popularity. They are growing SO fast! I heard she now has a wallpaper line in addition to her furniture and rug line. Whew! The market is becoming flooded with farmhouse style accessories now so their store is no longer unique to just them. I guess time will tell. I still enjoy their shows so much though.
