Winter White Sweater Pillow

I promised you 12 crafts of Christmas and I'm going to deliver!
Technically we are still within the "12 days of Christmas" window.
According the song, we are only half way through.
Here are crafts #10 and #11.

I adore knit throw pillows.
They add perfect texture to a mostly white scheme.
Can white be a color scheme?
I was just wondering.

I headed to the thrift store on a mission to find a white sweater to make into a pillow.
Let me tell you, I found a gem.
It is vintage and it has precious, knitted buttons. It has a delightful, cable knit detail.
I was smitten.

The process is easy.
Cut a rectangle out of the back.

Button the sweater and cut the same size rectangle out of the front.
Sew with right sides together.

Unbutton and turn right side out.
Stuff, button up and enjoy.

I took the sleeve detail and covered a pillar candle with it. A slip stitch closed up the bottom.
Please do not leave a sweater clad candle unattended. It is cute but it could cause a fire.
I will probably not be lighting this candle.

There you have it - #10 and #11.
Stay warm and cozy, my friends.

  1. Katie,
Too cute! Great idea to use the sweater's buttons as an opening to reverse the pillow after sewing and for changing pillow covers.
