Sometimes the good Lord brings people into your life for a season.
Sometime they are in it for the long haul.
A friend at work is one of those people.
She and I worked together from 1981-1984 when I was a brand new teacher.
She took me under her wing, helped mentor me and she made me laugh.
That is essential in the education field.
During this stint we have worked together for 23 years.
She knows that I love junk and antiques and she doesn't have any children of her own.
Over holidays she brought me a small bundle that was wrapped in a plastic bag.
Once it was unrolled...
I nearly fell over.
After a quick polish, they are remarkable.
I'll let you in on a secret.
I believe in using beautiful things so these will be used.
They are all different with gorgeous Art Nouveau detail.
The Art Nouveau style was popular between 1890 and 1910.
Curvy and ornate, the style depicts natural elements such as fruit and flowers.

They are hanging out in one of my new mugs.
They are a sweet reminder of the many years we have known each other.
Stunning.
Thanks for stopping by.

Katie, if you need a kid to pass them on to I'll let you adopt me! Seriously, I love your new silver.
ReplyDeleteThey are charming! So happy they found a home where they are appreciated.

Lovely pieces Katie. So happy that your friend blessed you with those. I had a few similar to those that I loved, but just sat, unused in a drawer. I gave them to my daughter and she now treasures them by using them all the time. Thanks for sharing your treasures.

Katie, these are just beautiful. And I agree with "using beautiful things". I like the way you've displayed these pieces in your kitchen, which by the way is also beautiful. Have a great Sunday! ~ Nancy
ReplyDeleteHow sweet of your friend. And silverware seems to be hard to find, at least in my area. It is so lovely and has beautiful patina.
