Architectural Salvage On The Mantel

I love preserving something from the past and seeing it used in a new way.

I found a darling piece of architectural salvage a few months ago.
My produce shop has a section of antiques and good farmhouse junk.
This stuff is picked out of barns up north and hauled back to Arlington.

Where else can you pick up brussels sprouts, carrots, Honey Crisp apples and a wonderful old artifact as well?
It's crazy.
I love popping in to have a look around.

I picked up this darling, chippy white corbel in November.
It was supposed to go out into the green house but it never made it past the living room mantel.
Once it was placed up on the mantel, I knew it had found a new home.

It looks great with simple winter decor.

The wreath behind it and the pitcher of boxwood in front of it is simple and fresh.

This was only $25.00. I thought that was a good deal.

It's perfect.
Thanks for stopping in.
I appreciate you all so much.
Katie

  4. That is a good deal Katie. I bought 3 corbels in S. Carolina when I was there last spring. Many were big bucks! I have two of them on my mantle right now sitting on stacks of books. Mine are more upright ones. Love, love them so much I think I will leave them there for Valentines. :) Yours looks right at home in it's new place. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

  5. It's a terrific piece, Katie. Although it seems to have found a home on your mantel, I've got a feeling you'll be moving it around in time :) I'd be in that store all the time - it sounds so fun!
