Gather 'Round The Table Tablescapes Blog Hop

Hi, all.
If you are visiting from My Thrift Store Addiction, welcome. Don't you love her green?
I'm thrilled that you are here. I'm happy to be a part of the Gather 'Round The Table Tablescape's Blog Hop. Many thanks to Amber @ Follow the Yellow Brick Home for putting this group together.
After you read this post, be sure to hop on over and see The Painted Hinge. There is a complete list of the other participants at the end of this post.

We are hosting Thanksgiving this year so I'm thrilled to actually use some of our brown transferware dishes for the occasion. Bill bought me these plates for our anniversary a few years ago.

I began the tablescape with our ticking stripe place mats.
I made these a couple of years ago out of $12.00 worth of ticking from Hobby Lobby.
I've used these so many times. It was well worth the time and effort to make these.

White plastic chargers, also from Hobby Lobby, were layered on next.

The dinner plates are Delamere by Spode.

The turkey dessert plates coordinate nicely. They are Celebration by Spode. I found them at Tuesday Morning quite a few years ago.
The underglaze of the turkey plates is a little whiter than that of the Delamere but it doesn't bother me.

My favorite stemware is June by Fostoria. It was my mother in law's. I love this lacy pattern.
The flatware is English Gadroon by Gorham. The set belonged to my mother.

The stemware and the silver has to be handwashed. All the other dishes can go into the dishwasher.
Having plates that can go into the dishwasher makes entertaining a little easier but it still looks formal. You might prefer glasses and flatware that are dishwasher safe so that there is no handwashing.

I remembered that I had some white turkey napkin rings.
I added these to the tablescape as well. I found these at the thrift store last year but didn't do anything with them.

We've rounded up the pitchers, butter dishes, salt and pepper shakers and gravy boats.
I recommend doing this ahead of time. That way you aren't digging in the cabinets while the company is waiting. Don't ask me how I know this.

I put some coordinating vignettes together with turkeys and cornucopias.

We got new dining chairs from World Market last spring. I just love them.

That is it for now.

  1. Brown and white transferware pieces are my weakness, Katie! Your pattern is so beautiful. I love how you used it with the ticking placemats and with the heirloom silver and goblets too. Everything is really pretty. Happy Thanksgiving, CoCo

  2. I was in a ceramics class decades ago and made those same napkin rings! I have no clue where they are now but I wish I did. They are darling. And a husband that buys you dishes for an anniversary gift?! He's a keeper for sure. Mine would never think of that no matter how much I hinted. Still love that stenciled wall too. Actually, it's all fabulous! Hope you are feeling better. Happy Thanksgiving!

  15. Pretty table, Katie. I love to pull out my pieces of brown transfer ware in autumn. I don't have a pretty set of dinner or salad plates as you do, just odd pieces that I use for serving or for flowers. Enjoy your feast with family and friends. I know they will feel special around this table.
