The Cozy White Christmas Cottage

I saw a mantel design on Pinterest from the talented Liz Marie
She'd picked up a bunch of white cottages from the Dollar Spot at Target.
Let's be clear, I can spend way more than a few dollars at the Dollar Spot.

When I found a set of cottages at the thrift store, it got me thinking.
I could channel my 80's craft diva and make our own. Were you an 80's craft diva too?

They were $3.00 in the toy section. They were definitely over priced for 80's country kitch but there was potential.

They received a good coat of white spray paint.

How about some bigger houses?
We had some left over 2 x 4s in the garage.
I cut one out and showed it to Bill.
Soon there was a whole neighborhood of cottages.
Gray seemed like a good color to add barely there dimension.

It was a fun and easy project.

Please come back tomorrow and join me for a Christmas Porch and Door Decor Blog Hop hosted by Amber of Follow The Yellow Brick Home.
It's a great line up of bloggers. You won't want to miss it.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. That is so cute, Katie! I was an 80's craft diva, too, and made many houses...my grandchildren play with them in their block sets now lol. I have been wanting to make some neutral colored houses...what a great idea to get them at the thrift store. I'm on the hunt now! Thank you for the beautiful inspiration!
