Red Berry Door Basket/A Pinterest Challenge

Good Morning! Welcome to the April Pinterest Challenge.
I want to say a huge thank you to Cindy at County Road 407 for hosting this event.
This was so much fun to create. I know that you will be inspired as you visit the different blogs on our tour today.

Our inspiration piece is this darling wall pocket from Tracy's Trinkets and Treasures.

I love pocket containers used at door decor.
Our front door doesn't have much space for any door decor.
We love our front door but there is only about 24 inches between the top of the door and the shelf.
A full and gorgeous wreath is always out of the question. Most pockets are too long to begin with and the addition of flowers is then out of the question.

There were two elements essential to this challenge - the pocket container and the hydrangeas.
Hobby Lobby had some gorgeous silk hydrangeas. The bunch was a little pricey and not on sale but I pulled up the 40% coupon on my phone.

They also had some wall pockets that were cute but they would not have worked for my door.
The thrift store had one exactly like the inspiration picture except it was white.
Again, it was too big for my door.

I had a wall basket in the garage.
I wired it to another wreath to give it a little more presence.

A darling watering can was in the spring section at Hobby Lobby.
It brought the right amount of drama and contrast to the white hydrangeas.

A nest pick was added to the display.

I found the nest when I went looking for berries. There is a fruit section. At my store it's next to the fairy garden stuff.

They had adorable ribbon.

The star of the show is a little insect pick.

Create something new and fun for your door.
Now be sure to visit the other links on the tour.

  1. Katie,
I am in love with the sweet wreath!! First of all, I love the use of red!!! So pretty ! And the bow out of 2 different ribbons is lovely!! The berries and that darling little insect is such a great touch!!!
    Thanks so much for sharing!

  2. This is so creative! What an adorable wreath to carry you through fall!

  3. Katie, your door decor is adorable. I of course love the colors and the watering can is perfect.

I would love to have a flat backed basket on the door, but the only ones I have come across are too big for our narrow door.

  4. This is such a pretty wreath and it will be perfect to enjoy all of spring and summer. I love the pop of color that the strawberries, ribbon, and watering can give to your arrangement. Our front door at our lake house looks exactly like yours and I've never made anything to hang on that door. Now that I've seen how you did it, I'm inspired to make something to use there.

  5. Katie!!!! your door decor is so adorable. I love the watering can and the red...oh so pretty and creative. It is so perfect for the season. I am so happy doing the challenges with you!

  6. Katie, I love your front door too;the shelf is a great design feature. Combining the twig wreath and the watering can was a great idea. I love the berries too. Great for this time of year. Such a sweet way to great guests.

  7. I absolutely love the quaint touches you brought to this challenge. The watering can, the berries, the little nest and the insect pick are all wonderful ideas and bring so much spring charm to your arrangement. Love it and it looks just perfect on your beautiful door.

  8. What a cute idea Katie. Your arrangment truly delights my heart!

  9. I love love your door and your basket is ADORABLE! The red is so eye-catching. And you are right, that little cricket is as cute as can be. Thank you so much for joining in today!

  10. Lovely, Katie! I love the added watering can... makes it so 'spring-like'. Hope you'll link-up at Homestyle Gathering... we opened the party today!

  11. That is such a happy, little basket that you've created, Katie! I love the sprinkling can and the little bug that you added! It fits perfectly on your front door.

  12. This is super cute, Katie. I love the basket, the colors. I don't have much room between my door and screen/storm door but I, too, love pockets on doors. Nice job!

  13. Love love love the polka dot watering can and the little happy bug you found for your door basket, Katie! Such a sweet take on the inspiration piece ~ really like how all the door baskets/decor are so different! Thanks for a great idea and I'm happy to be with you on this PC, too.

    Happy spring,
    Barb :)

  14. Katie, you knocked it out of the park! This is so pretty and welcoming. I love the watering can addition for the shape and the pop of color. I've not noticed your front door before. I love the shelf and high window. It is unusual and has so much character!

  15. This is adorable, Katie! Great idea to add another wreath to the back to bulk it up. Love the addition of the watering can and the berries. Such a cute, fresh color combo!

  16. Katie your door decor is so cute and will work for now through summer with the watering can and garden theme. I just love the photos showing the sidewalk up to your front door. Simply beautiful!

  17. Hi Katie! Thank you for sharing your post at Share Your Style this week ~ definitely on my features list for next week, SYS #206. Thank you! Love it and so sweet with the little lady bug. <3

    Happy spring hugs to you,
    Barb :)

  18. This is a great series. When i was a floral designer---we always challenged our skills by coming up with something other than a wreath for door and wall designs. This one is perfect for that door, love it, but then I think transitioning into red for summer is the 'Best'!
