Summer 2019 Home Tour

Happy Summer!
Welcome to our home.

I adore decorating for the seasons even summer. Everything gets a good cleaning and then a refreshed look with pillows and other accents that have been moved around the house or rotated in from storage.
The red wreath on the front door was one of the spring boards for the decor in our house this summer.
I just fell in love with this red - the red gingham, the black with red florals, the red watering can and the red raspberries.

The entryway chest got a plant in an IKEA pot, a table runner from Target Dollar Spot and a styled tray from an old tool box.

A trip to the flea market in Canton, Texas reminded me that we had some red rusted junk in our attic.

Red transferware plate, a seed packet, daisies and strawberries dot the tray.

Red transferware has also been highlighted on the table in the dining room.
We don't keep the table set all the time but this was a tablescape created for a special brunch.

The red pick up from Hobby Lobby has been seasonally decorated since last fall.

The kitchen was next on the list for a summer transformation.

The kitchen niches were emptied of blue and white, cleaned and filled with red and white transferware.

I love styling these open display cabinets. It's always fun to tuck something vintage inside.

The chicken was a thrifted find.

The Scentsy trailer was a birthday gift. One of the other reasons for going with red in the kitchen.

The blue and white cup that held small utensils next to the stove was so special.
It made me want to cook. Do you know what I mean?

I wanted something equally as special in red. This souvenir pitcher is that piece. It's so, so pretty. Red and white fans need to get some Bonne Maman for display and eating. It's our favorite jam. This is unopened - FYI.

White valances were place back in the windows. I couldn't find any red gingham that I liked. I may have to make them.

We are using the Johnson Brothers Old Britain Castles as our everyday dishes.

I needed a place to hide some blue and white until its next turn on display.
Covering the rabbit wire in the pie safe with red ticking stripe just popped in my brain and I love it.
It's my favorite thing in the red kitchen.
The chair and pad came from my grandmother's house.

Another tray is the centerpiece of our table.
The bee in the center gives homage to the bee theme in the garden room

The living room needed a special fabric for pillows.

A fabric store near me carries older and retired designer fabrics. I knew I'd find something wonderful. This P. Kaufman fabric was everywhere two decades ago. It may seem like it's "played out" but there was a reason it was so popular. It's beautiful. It's flowers and fruit. What more could you want?

I love these pillows with the ticking and the off white sofa.

Some antique brass was thrown in for good measure.
A ruby red glass box used to sit in our room.

I've gotten back into quilting recently. We had a vintage quilt top (I think from my mother in law) that was never quilted. It's next on my "to do" list. It might be a flying geese pattern but I'm not sure. The vintage fabrics are amazing. If you know the pattern, let me know.

A walk in the yard yielded some sweet blooms.

The red books are tugging at my heart.
Thanks for letting me share.
I hope you enjoyed our summer home tour for 2019.
Have a wonderful day.

  6. Katie love all your red. I remember seeing some of these pieces in your tour. The dining room table looks great. Love the grain sac runner. I adore red transferware too. I also use red in my kitchen for accent colors. The red truck is styled cute as always.

    Enjoy your afternoon
