Fall Master Bedroom/ New Floors

Good Morning!
The month of October is slipping away at a rapid pace so I wanted to share some photos of our room with the new floors and how it is decorated for fall.

Bill and I went back and forth concerning the floors in the master bedroom.
Initially, I wanted carpet. I like stepping out of bed onto carpet. Bill wanted wood.
In the end, I couldn't find anything that I was excited about, so we went with wood.
It's much easier to replace rugs than carpet when the time comes.

I decided to embrace all the brown tones of the floor and the bed.
I pulled out my favorite needlepoint pillows and our brown matelasse coverlet.
(I almost dorked out this summer and gave it away! I didn't. Thank goodness.)
It looks rich and earthy and still has that Katie Mansfield element.
The yellow and brown throw came from my mother in law.

I sprinkled a few picks and pumpkins around the room.

The chaise got a few brown pillows as well.

I made the shabby slip cover for this chaise over 20 years ago.
It was near the start of Rachel Ashwell's popularity.
It's been a constant in our room since then.

Here is the old carpet. I hated the color. It was mushroom.

The rug is a tad too small but it was readily available at IKEA.
I'd need something custom to fit this odd sized room but for now this works.

Thanks for stopping by,
I've pulled way back on some of the blogging things that I was doing.
For now, I'll blog when I feel like it.
I know these pictures aren't the best but I thought you'd like to see our room.
Come back tomorrow for Keep In Touch.
I appreciate all of you.

  1. Hi Katie, it's amazing how the wood floor in your master bedroom really brings the wood of your gorgeous bed "out". It highlights your furniture beautifully. I like a rug to step out of bed onto also, and you have the best of both. Love your chaise and the wonderful grouping of pillows. pretty pretty!

  3. Your room looks cozy and comfortable, as a master bedroom should. Your new dark wood floors are such a beautiful background tying everything else together.
