More Fall Decor - Bittersweet

Hello, Sweet Friends!
How are you on this October day?

I have been having the best time tweaking my fall vignettes.
Teacher time - Seasons are not capitalized unless they are used in a title.
For example - fall festival is not capitalized. Springfield Fall Festival would be because it is the title of an event. Confusing? Yes. There is a lot of misconception because days and months are capitalized. Many think that seasons are too. They are not.
By the way, mantel is the correct way to spell the thing above your fireplace box.
I see this a lot too.
The other mantle - "The snow lay on the ground in a mantle of white." is a correct use of that spelling.
Unfortunately since they are both correct spellings, any spell checker won't catch a misuse of the word.
There you go. Teacher time over.
I hope that wasn't too bossy for you.

The house smells delicious with a pumpkin spice cake baking in the oven. I'm getting the house straighten up for our first home group study. We are going over the book of Haggai. Next month we will start the book of John. It's been a while since we have been involved with a group studying the Word. We are both looking forward to it.

Have you seen these brownies?
Bill doesn't like pumpkin so I made these to go with our dessert tonight.

I was so inspired by Amber @ Follow The Yellow Brick Home, that I had to order some fresh bittersweet vines.
Mine come from this seller on eBay. The shipping is pricey but they arrived in just two days.
They had a very festive and fresh touch to any fall vignette.
Here are some pictures of the bittersweet added to my displays.

It's so much fun to decorate with.

I found this bird cage at a thrift store for $1.00. It's one of my favorite fall decorating elements.

I think that's about it for now.
Hypericum berries are a fall favorite too.

I seem to have rediscovered my joy in taking photos again.
I hope to be back with the fall garden room and the holiday/seasonal cabinet.
There is so much to blog about.
Have a great day.

  1. It looks lovely, Katie. I love bittersweet too. I have found some good faux, which helps with the messy but the real is so darned perfect!

Thanks for the lesson! I'm pretty good with much of it -- but my editing days are a little stale now and it has been awhile! I know I've made the mantel error more than once!

  2. Your post made me want to get something decorated! It also made me want to do a better job of spelling, capitalizing, etc... Everything is perfect in your post, mine not so much.

  3. I see you've found one of those adorable needlepoint pumpkins. I just love them. I'm going to check out your link for bittersweet. I know Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer technically don't need to be capitalized, but they are super special to me so they will always be big and important for me every time I type them. Have a fun Fall Day! LOL!!! xoxo
