The Christmas Eve Flowers

One Christmas we were keeping an eye on the neighbor's house while she was out of town.
On a very rare snowy Christmas Day she called me to check her front porch.
She thought there might be a floral arrangement sitting by the door.

They were there.
I asked her about it.
She said that every year on Christmas Eve she gets flowers from a gentlemen that she knew in college. A tradition which had to be 30 years in the running.
She didn't tell me the reason for the flowers but my mind went crazy wondering whether it was a story of unrequited love or a love that didn't work out for some reason.
Either way.
It seemed the most romantic of gestures.
We enjoyed the flowers until she returned.
What do you think?
Tell me in the comments below.
Have a blessed day.

  1. Ooh, a mystery! It is a very romantic gesture. It is a gorgeous bouquet so he must care about her. Sounds the beginning of a good novel.

  2. I would guess it was love that did not work out - like Tim McGraw and the "Red Ragtop" song

  5. Oh, yes. Unrequited love. Or else she saved his life during that time.

I hope your holidays were very merry, Katie!
