Faux Cherry Blossoms Out Of Tissue Paper

I would force some branches if I had some flowering trees.

When I was a little girl, I had a cherry tree right outside my bedroom window.

I loved looking out the window at the cherry blossoms in the spring.
When they fluttered to the ground it felt like pink snow was falling.

I know that I'm not alone in my love for this precious flower.

Bare branches have been part of my decor the last few winters.
This year my branches got some faux cherry blossoms to herald in an early spring.

It does feel like spring here in North Texas and the trees will be budding out in a few short weeks.
I'm sure that I saw this trick somewhere but little tissue paper circles formed the blossoms for my branches.

We just did something like this in my class a few weeks ago.
We love having the children pinch small pieces of tissue into balls.
It helps build their fine motor.
Anything that they can do to strengthen and develop those muscles helps them to write in the next year or so.
It they can do it so can you.

I hot glued the the pinched circles onto the branches.
There was a wee bit of design to it but not much.

If something real is available that is my preference but
I don't mind decorating with faux as long as it is in season.
These are a few weeks early but they won't stay around long after the season is over.

The black urn is a favorite from Hobby Lobby.
I have had it for a few years and I love it.
They still carry it in the floral department.

The votive holder is also from Hobby Lobby.
A half dozen of these came home with me in various colors.
They are on the wedding aisle for $1.99 each.
The bling got switched out with some lace for a different look.

The darling bird is an antique store find.

I've had the little painting for years.
It was only $1.00.

You can read about the lamps turned into candelabras in this post from my very early days of blogging.
The chairs recently got a makeover.

You can probably tell that I'm still crushing on pink accents.

What do you think?
Do you like to craft?
Have a blissful and blessed Saturday.

Valentine's Day 2015

I was able to put a few Valentine touches out before my class gave me some sort of plague.
Not really but almost.
I have felt so bad all week but was only able to stay home on Tuesday.
We have a shortage of subs. If you would like to come work with me let me know.
:)

This will be picture heavy. I'll spare the words this time around.

Welcome!

Dining Room:

I made the heart a couple of years ago.
I added the broach this year. I love old keys on hearts.

Coffee Table with some vintage Valentines.

The couple is actually from an old lamp.

The little girl cut out came from the antique mall.

I was drawn to pinks this year instead of red.

Thanks for stopping in.
There is still time to join my Valentine's Day link party.
Have a great weekend.
