Happy 4th of July

Hi everybody,
I hope you have some fun plans for the 4th.
I did a few things to the decor in honor of the patriotic holiday. I wasn't quite in the mood for full on red, white and blue. There was quite a bit of decorating going on around here a few weeks ago.

Aren't those pillows for the 4th adorable?
We've wanted one for two years.
One from Pottery Barn was on it's way but it wouldn't get here in time.
It was also a bit pricey so I cancelled the order.

There were a few worn out flags in my patriotic stash.
The stick on one was broken but the flag itself had some good weathering.
I pulled the flag off and realized that it could be used as an appliqué on a pillow.

Rather than sew I used safely pins.

I did the same thing to my torn, ragged banner.

This antique doll draped in flag ribbon is reminiscent of some of the dolls on the Christmas Traditions website.

Little Lady Liberty
She was one of my mom's dolls. I'm not sure what happened to her arms.

Of course no holiday would be complete without some of our antique postcards.

A few touches in the flower pots.

This little darling is a trash pick. It's going to get repurposed.
It was tangled in vines on the side of the house.
Untangling it was so fun!

Have a safe and blessed holiday!
Katie

  1. I love your touches of patriotism. The pillows are great! And the banner on the fireplace is the cutest. Now I could do a lot with that Radio Flyer wagon. I've been looking for me one of those. I've waited too late to do anything for the 4th. There are no flags to be found in town. Happy a Happy 4th.

  2. Your pillow turned out very lovely and you can change it to decorate for any season, something you couldn't have done with the PB pillow ;) I love their pillows but their prices keep me from getting them. Love the Radio Flyer, rust and all! Have a wonderful 4th of July, Katie!

  3. That's a great idea to just use a flag you already had to make a flag pillow! You've got a lot of cute patriotic accessories at your house. Hope you're having a nice 4th today.

  4. Wow, you are so clever with your flag pillow! I was putting out my little flags yesterday and came across a couple of worn out ones. I just couldn't toss them out!!... so I just put them away back into the garage. Thanks so much for the wonderful idea! Love all your July 4th decor!

  5. I wanted to do something similar with a pillow, but I couldn't find my one and only little flag in all my "stuff" (frustrating, but my own fault) I love seeing all your patriotic touches! I hope you had a wonderful day :)
