I fully realize that I'm not the slimmest pencil in the drawer but I certainly didn't not expect to break a brand new chair.
Thank you random furniture maker in China for making me take a hit in the self esteem department.

I was putting on my makeup one morning when I heard a horrible crack as I scooted my chair up the vanity.
The board that made up the front of the seat cracked.
Balsa wood is for toy airplanes not chairs!
Bill made a new piece for me and we put the chair back together.
The trickiest part was screwing down the springs.

Now she is as good as new.
I just hope that I don't break any of the other boards or this chair is out of here.
This is a popular chair from Target that retails for about $80.00.
I love the look of it but the quality is substandard in my opinion.
I'll be keeping an eye out for something a little more substantial - just in case.

That is why I never buy that furniture. Old furniture is better made and has more character....much of the new stuff is pretty much crap that ends up in a landfill rapidly...I like to look at Ikea, but can never bring myself to actually buy any of their furniture.....
ReplyDeleteHow awful. I am afraid I would have hauled it back to Target for a refund! lol Hope it holds up for you now. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI really like old solid chairs, just for that reason. Your room looks lovely. Hope the repaired chair holds up.
