4th of July Home Tour

Here is our home decorated for the 4th of July.
I pulled out all the stops for you and sprinkled patriotic touches all throughout the house.

Uncle Sam is the door greeter.
Read about his makeover here.
The entryway got another "Santa into Uncle Sam" makeover.
This little doll got a new outfit for the holiday.

I made the flag from scraps of cedar found in the garage.
It looked a little too pristine so I wiped some stain on it.
A coat of polyurethane finished it off.

The dining room got an old flag used as a table runner.

My dad's Air Force photo sits on the buffet.

A sweet red sailor dress hangs from the secretary.
I remember when Rebekah wore this. It was one of my favorites.

Down the hall is an image of the World Trade Center that my sister took the year before 9/11.

We cherish the copy she gave us.

I love children dressed for the 4th of July.  A photo of my four older brothers and I rests on the shelf in the living room. The other photo is Rebekah in yet another sailor dress.

My mom's doll dressed as Liberty has made an appearance again this year.
I love her.

I love this vintage looking slate of a little child holding the flag.
The blue candle is new. It is a blueberry pie scent from Walmart.

A second photo from my sister has a place on honor on the mantel.

I made the banner out of a drop cloth, masking tape and paint.

No sewing required.
The little pillow on the old school chair did require sewing.

I have no idea where the sailor came from.
It probably belonged to my grandfather or grandmother.
My grandfather was stationed stateside when he was in the Navy.

The couch got a thrifted pillow. It was too new looking so I smeared coffee grounds into it. It looks perfectly aged after a cycle through the washer.

The kitchen got the candle that started it all.

One of my students gave this to me as a teacher gift at the end of the school year.
It prompted me to pull out the tote of flags which led to a cacophony of patriotic decorating.

One of my favorite decor touches turned out to be a little naive painting that I did.

I'm not much of an artist but I can recreate a picture from something else. This motif was from a hooked rug design that I saw on Pinterest. I tried to find the original artist but couldn't.

I showed you the sunroom. To see more click on this post.

The guest rooms and my room got a touch of red, white and blue.

Thanks for letting me share my patriotic home.
I did some thinking and praying as I sprinkled touches of nationalistic pride around the house.
We live in a great land of liberty.

Blessings to you as you celebrate liberty and the land that we love!
