Summer Sunroom/ It's Easy Being Green

When I was checking the internet to see if sunroom was one word or two, I came across a definition.
"A room in a house that has a lot of windows and glass to let sunlight in."
The simple phrase sums up exactly what I wanted this room to be.

brass bird cage, marble parrot bookend, greenery

I thought it would be a piece of cake to enclose our existing covered porch with windows and sliding glass doors.
Nope.
Not even a little bit easy.
It took Bill about a year but he did most of the work himself.
He is amazing.

There are windows.
There is beautiful light that filters through the trees before it enters into the space.
The truth be told, a little too much light (and heat) during the summer months.

Kermit the Frog sang that it wasn't easy being green.
It's easy "being green" in this room.
The canopy from our oak trees decree it.
Along with the green, I've added a few things that have a coastal feel.
The enamel tea pot belonged to my grandmother and it is one of my favorite things.

It reminds me of the cranes we saw in South Carolina @ Magnolia Plantation and Gardens.

My handy husband also built the hutch for me.

British Indies inspired design

Picnic baskets, ferns

I've made a mini plant stand using old picnic baskets.

I'm completely crazy about the green one, of course.

The ceiling is corrugated tin.
I still love it as much as I did 13 years ago.
More, if that is possible.

Could Kermit be misinformed?
Is it easy being green?

  7. I love the whole idea of a sun room, especially now after looking at your pictures. Winter, spring, summer, or fall, that sunshine gets into that room and it brings all those potted plants to life. I think this is a true example of a perfectly done sun room, a great place to sit and read a book in total peace.
