Summer Pinterest Challenge/ Ball Jars And Daisies

I've been so attracted to simple summer flowers this year.

I knew that they had to have a place in the summer Pinterest Challenge.
What is the Pinterest Challenge?
It's an event hosted by Cindy of County Road 407. She picks a Pinterest photo that inspires her in some way. Fellow bloggers interpret that photo to their own style.
Thank you, Cindy for hosting this fun event.

Our inspiration photo is from Samantha at Little Bits Of Home
Please hop over and have a look. Also, she will appreciate it if you pin this photo from her site not mine.
The first thing I noticed was the aqua colored glass.
I have a fun antique glass collection. Turquoise or aqua glass is actually quite collectable and hard to come by so I only have a few pieces. It wasn't enough to build a display.

I have some gorgeous emerald green glass but it wasn't quite right for a summer display.

The mason jars from the mason jar craze of 2013 seemed perfect.

A wreath stands in for the circular wall mirror.

These shelves recently received a fresh coat of paint. I used them instead of the mantel. The living room is a semi construction zone while we wait for our wood floors. I can't wait to show you those.

In a week or two it will be time for some more yellows as I think about late summer and early fall.

Did you know that you can date Ball jars based on the script?

We have some from different dates but I can't tell you which are earlier than the others.

The lids have a glass insert so be careful when handling. Sometimes the glass comes unglued and falls out of the lid.

There are reproduction Ball jars if you want to recreate this look without hunting for antique jars.
I just love, love, love jars.
That is it for now.
I hope you enjoyed Barb's sweet blog at French Ethereal. Lori B at Create and Ponder is always a fun visit too.
Be sure to visit the other participants in this months challenge as well.
I hope you are having a wonderful day!

  1. Love your display and your jars. I'm hoping to find some old ones in our shopping trips.

  2. Katie, your mantel/shelf vignette is lovely with the antique Ball jars and daisies!!! Daisies are one of my favorite flowers and as an early teenager I had white, yellow and blue daisies on wallpaper in my first California bedroom!

For my son and daughter-in-law's wedding three years ago now (I can't believe it... I am JUST remembering their wedding anniv. was last week... Big oops! as I write this.), I found old Ball jars to use on their wedding tables. They looked lovely with bunches of daisies in them. <3

    Loving your sweet display,
    Barb :)

  3. There's nothing like using antique Ball jars and fresh flowers for decorating in summer. Your shelf looks pretty and I'll bet that guests to your home will admire it.

  5. Katie, I think using your newly painted shelf as a stand~in for a mantle is so smart. All your beautiful mason jars speak to my heart. The variety of flowers is so summery. I know you will be relieved when the floors are in and the room done. Can't wait to see it!

  9. We were on the same track this time around, Katie! I will probably be swapping out my green flowers for some sunflowers soon, too. I love when sunflower season rolls around! Love your idea of using the green wreath as the round feature in the middle!

  10. Oh my goodness Katie, your wreath is perfect for the round mirror! I would have never thought to use that. And I love that you used a shelf instead of your mantel. Great way to show our readers how to be inspired and not just do exactly what they see in a photo. So glad you joined in - thank you!
