See You Soon!

Hi guys,
Thank you so much for your kind words and your prayers.
I thought I'd share some photos from the trip to mom's and her service.
Her garden was beautiful.

She was pleased about that, I'm sure.

A big tree in her front yard was dead which I'm sure was a burr under her saddle, so to speak.

The foyer of the church was decorated for fall. She would have loved the decorations.

 Her service was beautiful.
We sang:
Great Is Thy Faithfulness
and
How Great Thou Art
The soloist sang It Is Well.

There was one of mom's friends that drove for 5 hours to get there. We also had friends that came up for the service.
My children were all able to get off of work to come.
I thought that was just the sweetest thing.
Honestly, I don't remember much about the message.
My spirit is touched more by music than by sermons to be honest.
Bill and I got home on Saturday night.
We unloaded a Uhaul and crashed.
On Sunday morning, I got a text that a good friend was at the end of her life.
I can't even!
I went to work yesterday and was there for about a half an hour and then started crying.
They tried to send me home but I refused. Today, workmen are here putting the wood on the stairs. They will be here all day tomorrow too.

I need to be alone.
I recharge alone because I'm an introvert.
We leave for Italy one week from tomorrow. I'm feeling pressured to get everything done and get a semblance of normalcy before we go.
I need to take a blogging break. I'll try to pop in now and again but I doubt that I'll be able to be online with Blogger in Italy. I do not have time to get any posts up and scheduled before I leave.
I want to let you know how much I appreciate all of you.
I have some gorgeous new pieces from my parents to show you.
I will also, finally, be able to tell my complete story with you.
Thank you friends!
Katie

  1. Take your time, Katie. It is really important that you do. It sounds like your mom would have been so pleased with the service and, like you, I have a hard time listening to the words, it is so peaceful for me to just look around at the setting and the people and friends that take part. Again, I am so sorry for your loss..Have a wonderful trip..Judy

  3. Katie my heart aches for you losing your mom. I am glad the service for her was beautiful. Go to Italy and enjoy just being somewhere else. Let your mind go on vacation from everything. We will all be here when you come back to blogging. Sometimes Blogging Vacations are good for the soul too. Big hugs.

  4. I'm so sorry, but your mother seemed like a beautiful person. Your mom would want you to enjoy your Trip to Italy, therefore, let her be there experiencing the beauty just as you are experiencing it. My mom died 3 months after I traveled to Italy (she so wanted to visit that country, my father was in Italy during WW2. Step..mom/dad has such a cold feeling, my nephew's step daughter calls him dad; her biological father is a father. I soo enjoy your blog and hope you can continue.

  6. It sounds like a lovely service, so glad you're kids were able to attend. Katie, you've had a lot of upset for the last several months with the house remodel, your sweet pup getting hurt, your new job, then you're mom. you really do need to unplug and unwind with some relaxation and time by yourself and hubby. Have a wonderful vacation and know we're thinking about and praying for you. xoxo

  7. Enjoy your trip and leave the sadness behind. You are alive and need to live your life. Your mother would have wanted you to. Take you time getting back to blogging. We'll all be here when you return. You will be no good to anyone unless you're good to yourself, so let your well-earned vacation lift your spirits and cleanse your heart and soul. You are allowed to be happy.

  8. Katie I'm so sorry about the loss of your mom. Take a break and go to Italy and let yourself enjoy. Your brain has to be on overdrive. You surely need downtime and to focus on you.

    You're in my thoughts.

  9. Oh, Katie -- what a load all at once, especially your friend's health and the home rehab and disruption on top of your grief for your mom. You DO need a break -- a long one. I hope you have all systems go to relax and recharge. Take your time, my friend. We'll be here. Time to heal.

  10. Katie, you need to take care of yourself right now. Grieving is a process that takes much time. I'm glad you and Bill are taking this trip together. It will be good for you. Don't even think about social media. Just savor the beauty of Italy and the love the two of you share as a couple.
Safe travels, dear friend. Will look forward to catching up when you return.
