The New House Exterior Paint Reveal

Hi, Friends,
How are you? I hope you are well.
I was feeling a little down in the dumps so Bill sent me out to the new house.  It was my first time spending the night out there by myself. I didn't fall asleep until two in the morning.
I was not freaked out. I didn't have caffeine. It was just a new place.
Heading out early go me a good jump start on the next painting projects inside the house.
I was able to paint the ceilings in the kitchen, living, and dining room on the night I arrived
The dark guest bath was started the next morning. Bathrooms are hard so it took all day.

Bill was starting his vacation and we were spending it at the house.
Painting the outside was Bill's main objective.

The color is Alabaster by Sherwin Williams.
I am so in love with it.
Here is the before:

Bill took down the shutters to paint. Many of them didn't survive removal. I don't know if we will rebuild them or not. The house looks nice and neat without them.

Paint makes such a difference.

We have never had a carport. So far we love it.
The small white addition to the carport is the shop.
Bill put on all new trim on it. He wanted to tear it down but I talked him out of it for now.
The guesthouse still needs to be painted but it is metal so we need to do some research before starting that project.

I love the view of the house and guest house from the clearing.
The deer blind will be hauled away this weekend.
The fall color was at its peak. I was so pleased we closed in enough time to see it.

The placement of the propane tank seems so typical for country life.
I don't know if we can have it moved or not,

The screened in porch needs some repair before it can be painted.
This view was one of the first that I saw from the listing photos. I thought it was cute then. It will be cuter when it's all white,

I'm not sure what to do about plantings. If we aren't living there full time, I need to do some shrubs that need very little watering outside of what nature can provide.

That is the house from a 360 degree perspective.
We still need to power wash the porch columns and the screen door.
I was able to paint the exterior doors. The color is Rookwood Shutter Green also by Sherwin Williams.
I love the door.

This took 14 gallons of Sherwin Williams A-100 Exterior Acrylic Latex. It's good paint that goes on smooth. It covers well but it did need three coats in some spots. We worked out booties off last week but it was so worth all that effort.

The flooring was delivered today and they will start installing it on Monday.
It will really feel like home once that is done.
Bill says that if he had it to do over again, he'd hire out the painting and install the floors himself.
He hates painting. I don't mind it and I love the power of it.
Bill had the vision for this one. I was not in love at all. After seeing it painted and spending the week out there, I am loving it more and more.

That is all for now.
I'll have more soon, I hope.

  1. You'll like the carport, Katie. Not only for the car (which is great) but it gives a covered outdoor workspace which is helpful. Love the paint color.
