Copy Cat Pottery Barn Centerpiece

I love the spring Pottery Barn catalog.
I was smitten with this cloche. I wasn't smitten with the $169.00 price tag.
I set out to recreate the feel of this piece for the center of my Easter table.

The rabbit was a must have.
I found this little guy at Hobby Lobby.

It was originally a place card holder and could work if I didn't find anything else.

Then I saw this one. The size was much better.  It was 40% off of $8.99 I think.

The burlap charger for underneath was $2.99.
Nest -$0
Plants- $0

The cloche was found at Hobby Lobby.
It was 50% off glass week so it was $20.00.

Here is my copy cat version of the Pottery Barn Easter cloche.
Theirs- $169.00
Mine - $30.00.
This was so easy to put together.

The cloche will be fun for other seasons and holidays.

Stuff is always so cute under glass.

It's wonderful as the center of our Delamere tablescape.
Thanks for stopping by.

Plaid Is "On Point" This Christmas

Plaid is a big trend for Christmas 2016.
I'm thrilled because I adore plaid.
Visions of all things Christmas have been dancing through my head the past few weeks.

I was pleased to see that Pottery Barn had plaid throws again.
Bill got me a gift card for my birthday so I used it to buy the Denver Throw.
It is adorable.

I couldn't wait to try out a little vignette on the mantel.
It didn't stay but it was fun playing.
Did you know that you can make a stocking out of an old pleated plaid skirt?

A few years ago, I found a good pleated wool skirt at the thrift store.
Because of the pleats there was a lot of fabric and I could envision pillows.
The dry cleaners looked at me a little funny when I asked them to press out the pleats.
A seam ripper helped take out the waist band.

One of the pillows graced the love seat a few years ago.

There was a remnant left to make a stocking.
It matches the Pottery Barn throw perfectly.

The snowman came from the school gift exchange last year.

To see the one I made last year out of sweater go to this post.

This mantel has such a fun, traditional feel.
Please stop back by to see where else plaid is making an appearance.
Are you using plaid this Christmas?

White Furniture In The Mancave

Bill has accused me of trying to Pottery Barn up his man cave.
The previous style of the room was a little Texana.
It was a little bit Southwest with some cowboy chic thrown in.
We got caught up in a trend after visiting Anteks in Dallas.
It didn't flow well with the rest of the house and it was a room I couldn't really rest in.
It was so dark.
Now that he is feeling better, we are watching more television together.
It's a long story but before there were a lot of super heroes, guns with some sci fi thrown in.
I can't deal with any of those.
Sometimes we wonder how we got together because we don't have the same taste in t.v. at all.

Drop Cloth Slip Cover

I shared with you the leather chair covered with its new drop cloth slipcover.
I love it.
My brain started pondering further ways to add white without making the space look too cottage or farmhouse.

Green Dresser

The Eastlake dresser just wasn't right. I thought about painting it white or gray but I have been so into green lately that I didn't want to take the plunge with a paint brush.
This piece is slated for a lake house (if we ever get one).
The Mission style lamps are gone.
We went a little bit overboard with those.

Greenery, White Dresser

Instead the little white dresser from the guest room was swapped out with the green dresser.
Once upon a time my neighbors and I were having a garage sale.
On one of the dressers it said Chester Drawers.
I said. "Um... do you mean Chest of drawers?"
We got a good laugh out of that one.
In total vindication for my friends, the Urban Dictionary does recognize Chester Drawers as viable verbiage for a piece of furniture.
"Chester Drawers" in now in the guest room.

White Dresser with mirrors

The mirrors came from Walmart.
They were $20 for the set which I thought was a great deal.
They are an affordable way to make the space a little more contemporary.

A round table pulled out of storage helps balance the white of the dresser.

The triangle shelf is a Clint Harp original .
It was the inspiration for the makeover.

Harp Designs Shelf on white table

The cat and the dog think this day has been exhausting!

A white tool box, greenery and a quick turning of the books gets the space closer to being complete.
I have one more change up my sleeve then it's time to scrape popcorn.

Stay tuned for more of this riveting saga.
Do you say Chester Drawers?

The Pottery Barn Pillow

My daughter is writing a book.
One of the characters loves Pottery Barn so Rebekah has been doing some research.

She noticed that our home has a slight resemblance to the popular home decor chain.
Maybe more than slight because she asked if I was trying to live in a Pottery Barn.

She stopped in for Sunday night dinner and knew I'd been there.
I had to pop over to Ft. Worth to get a tire checked and while I was there I took a jaunt over to the store. I've had a $10.00 gift card knocking around in my purse for almost 2 years.

I knew that it would be difficult to spend only $10.00 which is why I put it off but I found an adorable pillow for spring.
It was $38.00 with the gift card.
This is way more than I usually spend on a throw pillow but it's just so cute.
I saved by not getting their pillow insert which was $20.00.
I came home and stuffed a standard size pillow into the the new cover.
It fit perfectly.

A duvet that coordinates with this has been on Rebekah's wish list.
She actually didn't think I'd like this line because of the black ground but I adore black backgrounds with pops of florals.
I think she was shocked that we were both on the same wave length.

I tried to mimic the look in the catalogue by propping the letter M on the mantel.

I got that last year at LaurieAnna's Vintage Home.

I also put some faux spring blubs in my terrarium from IKEA.

The little lamb on the coffee table was an eBay find.

My aunt got one like it for my mom.
I just adored it and searched until I found one for me.

It's such a darling.

The weather continues to be a little wacky.
It hasn't been very "winter like" so all the plaid has been put away for another year.

Work continues at a crazy busy pace so
I've done some leather crafting in my down time to relax.
Now that I know my sewing machine can sew thin leather a whole new world of crafting has opened up.

Hop over and read about my pochette made out of denim and a vintage Louis Vuitton zipper.
That is about it for this Monday night.

Thanks so much for stopping by,
Katie
